I'm looking for some information about a "Cherokee Camaro" as GM calls it. It was featured in the September 1967 issues of Hod Rod magazine. It also was a pace car for at least one Can-Am race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI in 1967. The pace car looked different from the Hot Rod car. The car is for real and we know and talked to all three of the previous owners of the car. What we don't know is how many cars were built or how many cars like it that are still around. If you have any information, pictures,or know anyone that might be able to help. That would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Mike A

Here is a picture of the car now.

Here's a little more info for anyone that wants it. Al Mainerd came to look at the car, over the weekend. He gave us some neat information about the car. The front and rear bumpers are solid copper. Something GM use a lot of when they were making one off parts. The shocks are heavy duty KYB units with GM part numbers, just like the ones on his 68 Z convertible. Something he said he never saw before he got his Z. Even one of the headlights in the car is a preproduction of a T3 headlight. He stated everything about the car is definitely GM engineering built.

Another neat thing he said was his 68 Z was a pace car for a race at Elkhart Lake also.
