1969 Norwood and Van Nuys Production

In addition to Camaros and Firebirds, did a significant number of other cars come out of Norwood and Van Nuys while the '69 Camaro was being produced? Also did something happen in July/August that accounts for the low Camaro production for these months? Thanks!

July-Aug was the model year change over period.  Old year models were winding down in July to gear up from new year model to start in Aug.  Also GM woudl shut down for several weeks in July for maint. and vacations etc.  They still do that, 2 weeks down in July.

LA also built Impala models along with the Camaro
Norwood was only building the Camaro in 69

Van Nuys built 32 Chevrolets per hour, half of them were "B"-bodies (Impala/Caprice); Camaros were about 16 per hour, or about 250 per day (vs. the 912 per day at Norwood).

Norwood built only Camaros until April 15th, 1969, when they added the Firebird (transferred from Lordstown).

  I might be wrong but I believe the 69 Camaro was produced longer in 1969 ( like November rings a bell) because the 1970 Camaro was not released for sale untill Feburary 1970. Thats why some people call the 1970 a 1970 1/2.
