OK fellow 1st gen Camaro lovers I need some expert advice and or opinions for some R & R work................Are you able to remove the upper large alternator bracket (sb 302 motor) without removing the alternator or belt? From looking at how its assembled it appears the the lower bracket will hold the alternator unit in place and all you need to do is remove the 3 bolts holding the larger bracket in place. Remove it and then when refinished just reinstall it...Please let me know if that is correct or what is required................Thanks for all the input
Cheers

I don't see why not.  Just don't let the alt. go floppin' around.  That might be a little rough on the case... ;-)

Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable before you do it!   :o

Yep, I've done it.  Like Paul said, take the neg battery cable off and snug up the lower bolt to hold it in place after  you slip the belt off it.

Got it on the battery cable of course. What I am trying to avoid is removing the alternator or fan belt and just remove the upper bracket. Is that feasible?
Thanks
