When I bought my 69 Z in 1995 this block was in the trunk, P/N 3914678 Pad stamp #CE922302, Dated F-28-8
I want to sell this block, I do know this is a warranty block or counter exchange for 68 & 69 it is a two bolt main block,
what is something like this rare item worth.
                                                                       Thank you, Greg

I know someone who paid $2,500 for a complete, rebuilt engine like that with the correct aluminum intake on it.  As a bare block, it's worth about what the rest of small block chevy's are worth as what makes it better is all the internals.

Being a CE code it is worth more than a run of the mill 327/302

post up some pics I might be a player if the price is OK  Thanks

Would having the receipt From the dealer make my C.E. block more valuable ( i do have it)

Probably the next best thing to the original engine!!

In rereading all of this I think I misunderstood - thus the comment previously...
I understood you to mean that this CE block (that came in the trunk) belonged to the car you have now and were wondering if had created more value because of the receipt showing it was a replacement for your car on warranty - which it would if that was the case, thus my comment...
But if I now gather this correctly and it wasn't for your car, then any old CE block regardless if it comes with dealer paperwork or a receipt or not, is worth no more than any other block unless it can be tied to a particular car by that paper trail...
Sorry - Randy

the block was in my Z at one time ( So the  previous owner told me ) but I still dont have a good paper trail
just a receipt saying fitted block dated 1978 no P/N
  Greg,

A 678 block would not be a '78 vintage - '68 only casting from what I recall.

Gsmith

the block is dated F-28-8 but was purchased in 1978 so the receipt says

So this is not a/the warranty replacement block, but just a block someone bought over the counter (or maybe had installed at a dealer) at their expense and is in fact a 2 bolt main and not a 4 bolt? In that case it is just a run of the mill 2 bolt 350 block (4 in bore) and unless someone just has to have a date coded CE to make them feel better it carries no premium.

"and is in fact a 2 bolt main and not a 4 bolt? In that case it is just a run of the mill 2 bolt 350 block (4 in bore) and unless someone just has to have a date coded CE to make them feel better it carries no premium."                          Large journal 678s [it is a 327 block not 350]only came in 2 bolt configuration.

'678's came as 2 bolt, large journal blocks - you are correct - but for 302/327/350 usage in '68...
