correct plating/color barrel nuts for a console car

The barrel nuts that stick out in the tunnel above the trans are painted or put in later after the under side was painted?I think they were put in after and are silver cad ,but not sure. thanks John

They're silver, and were installed by Chevrolet, after paint.
