Stant Oil Fill cap was it ? .?

Found this 'un on an old oil fill tube. I kinda remember that we had push-on chrome units on the end of the tube. Maybe the push-ons were just the beginning of buying chroime for the old engines, eh?   Are the "Stant" caps original to oil fill tubes or are they supposed to be used in valve covers??

My one-owner, all original 1967 RS with the L30 327, 275hp V8 had a cap on the black oil fill tube just like the one you have pictured.  I can't remember if it was a Stant brand or not.  Unfortunately I don't own the car anymore.

Great info Vince. Another question but this time on the tube.  I have the tube in red, correct or should it be in black??

We were talking about 68 327 tubes/caps in that post.... They were different from a 67 327.

I don't know for sure but my car is a 67 and the tube is orange.

The push on caps and the twist on caps like the one shown are both correct for 67.  Which one is used depends on what type of crankcase ventilation you have.  If yours has the pcv screwed into the side of the fill tube you use the twist on cap.

My SS350 has the push on cap that has a wire mesh inside to act as a filter (I guess!!).  Crankcase ventilation goes from the back of the block next to the distributor with a hose routed to the front of the quadrajet.  There is a small pcv valve about the middle of the hose that is held on with a bracket.

I'm only referring to small blocks here.  I didn't research big blocks.

I found this picture on the web awhile back, probably ebay.  It's supposed to be an unrestored SS350.  Obviously the air cleaner has been changed but you can see the chrome push on cap, the black tube, and the routing of the crankcase ventilation to the front of the quadrajet.
