Original finish on 67 exhaust hangers

  What was the original finish on '67 exhaust hangers?  I have seen pictures(supposedly original) where it looks like they were painted semi-gloss black.  In catalogs I have seen ones that look natural bare metal, and I have seen Cad.? plated, what is correct?  Thanks for any help.
