anyone done this? i'm about to switch my muncie to a 2.87 first gear trans, with the original 4.10 rear gears.. so the car will have great 1st gear.

i am thinking of shelving the original flywheel and putting an aluminum lightweight flywheel.

anyone done this or have any suggestions on what to get?
Thanks

Aaron

I say don't do it if you drive it on the street! 302s don't have a lot of bottom-end anyway, and the inertia you'd lose would probably make the car hard to drive. Flywheels store a lot of kinetic energy, and a 302 needs all it can get. My 2 cents and good luck!

That is a pretty good first gear. You may get away with it. I would try it because of the 4.10's too.
