As I understand it, Rochester 2GV carburetor, 7024112, decodes as follows:

70, Series Prefix
2, 1960's series.
4, model year, e.g. 1964
1, model, e.g. 2 Bbl, federal standards
1, division, e.g. 0, 1, or 2 indicated Chevrolet
2, transmission, e.g. even numbers = automatic

However, several references (Camaro By the Numbers and others) show this carb to have been correct for 1966 applications as well.  Matter of fact, it is the correct carb for my '66 Chevelle which has the original 283, original Powerglide and original rear end with the Protect-O-Plate and other documentation.  Any thoughts as to why Chevy used a 1964 part number for a 1966 application? 

No big deal, just always been curious as to why the carb on my 66 Chevelle carries a '64 part number.
