At GM Carlisle there was a '67 BB car in the club building with a black top open element air cleaner. Is this right and what would it have been on? I think I've only seen black tops on '65 BB Corvettes. Thanks.

So the story goes, many believe that some of the early BB production cars had the black lid.

Thanks Jerry. The pics of mine sure look black to me, the reflection is differant from the valve covers. The original owner doesn't remember.

Super Chevy did a feature on a loaded survivor '67 Camaro SS 396 convert in the July '81 issue; black lid.

Thanks, I will see if I have it or can get it.

I think some did not use a PCV hose either.  At least that's what Larry C. believes.

I know we are talking here about a BB with a black lid for the air cleaner. But what about the 350SS? The majority of the 350's I have seen have chrome tops. What is the norm for the 350ss?
The reason I ask, I just picked up a closed element air cleaner from the swap meet in Iola,Wi, and I was going to chrome the top and put it on my SS clone.
