Hi I am trying to track down a highly optioned, ultra-rare imo first-generation Camaro that I resourcefully worked on and sadly sold in the early 1990s. If you have restored a white '67 RS and found some very unusual bodywork and interior choices, you might have my old car.
Factory Specifications & Rarity:
• Model: 1967 Camaro Rally Sport (RS) Coupe.
• Exterior: Originally Bolero Red with white pinstripes, featuring a flat hood and no rear spoiler.
• Interior: Factory Deluxe Black with White Accents (the iconic "Poundcake" or Tuxedo interior, Trim Code 765-Z).
• Rare Options: Factory center console and a highly uncommon factory fold-down rear seat.
The Wild Overseas History:
The car was originally brought to Germany by a U.S. military member in the mid-to-late 1970s. It was passed down through three different military members at U.S. bases in Augsburg, Germany (USAREUR system). I became the third military owner that I know of when I purchased it there in 1987-88.
While flying down the Autobahn, the original 327 engine threw its pressed-on harmonic balancer, damaging the motor. On a tight military budget, I swapped out the broken 327 for a different small block and replaced the original 2-speed Powerglide transmission with a Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 (TH350), modifying the console linkage to fit.
Before shipping it home, a German civilian defrauded me of the car using a counterfeit check. I had to return to Germany and successfully sue him in the German court system to legally regain possession of the vehicle before transporting it back to the U.S. via St. Louis.
Dead-Giveaway Forensic Clues (My pathetic Budget Restoration):
While stationed in Augsburg, my best friend and I stripped the car down and completely repainted it 1976 Corvette Classic White over the original red. Because I didn't have deep pockets for factory replacement parts at the time, I did the following cheap and sad custom work:
• The Rear Window Fix: The bottom of the rear window channel was badly rusted. Being too broke for metal repair panels, I cleaned it up as best as I could and used rust stop to seal it.
• The Clear Silicone Gasket: I didn't have a factory rubber rear window gasket, so I reinstalled the rear glass using multiple layers of clear silicone built up in stages to mimic the original weatherstripping thickness which didn't work because I was in a rush so the glasss sat real low.
• The Cabin: I completely stripped the interior, hand-stitched the headliner and seats where the seams were separating as best I could, and completely re-dyed the black carpet myself.
* LH rear quarter was damaged from another car hitting it and I rushed the repair and discolored the repaired paint with red rubbing compound giving it a slight pink color.

If you own/owned a '67 Classic White RS that had a siliconed in rear window, damageded LH rear quarter panel, 3rd Gen Z28 wheels painted to match(white), a TH350 swap, or found any old military/German paperwork hidden under that re-dyed carpet, you might be driving my old car. I would love nothing more than to hear if it survived and see how it looks today!
