and that is exactly why i am looking for an replacement filter,  $400.00 for an air filter is crazy!!!!!

This MIGHT help - I have heard from others that a NAPA Air Filter Element #22096 will fit a 67/68 Cowl Plenum Air Cleaner perfectly - although I have not personally tried that one yet.

I know this thread has not had a post in a while - but - at the Camaro Nationals last week I learned that a WIX Element No. 46927R may also fit the cowl plenum air cleaner.  For what that's worth...
