I have two muncie transmissions, one of them has the speedo on the drivers side, the other is on the passengers side. Question is why?
                                              Thanks

Darryl -

Because the Muncie transmissions where used in different makes & models of cars.  If you look at the tailhousing (case extension) on the two Muncies you have the casting numbers will be different (and possible the case & side cover casting numbers too).  To identify what your two transmissions originally came out of you will need the transmission assemble code and vin off each.  See this link for more info on where to find these codes:

Good luck.   :)

Chevy applications use the passenger side speedo take off from 67 up...if I'm not msitaken.    I know Pontiacs retain the driver's side speedo take off up to at least '69   No clue on buick or Olds

Corvettes used the driver's side speedo in '63-'64, and the passenger side speedo from '65-up.
