I want to change my hood to an SS hood. I recently drove 200 miles and picked up an original. When I took it to the body shop they sent it off to be sandblasted. When it came back it showed a bunch of waves and dents. They suggest I purchase an after market hood, said there would be to much bondo.

Any suggestions on which brands are best .
Good mark
Golden Star
Dynacorn
AMD

Suggestions please I know original metal is always best, but don't feel like waiting for months or years to find a good used one.

Do not go back to that shop. They and the blaster have zero knowledge about correct blasting technique and media. Butchers. It's been a while since I used a repro SS hood which was Goodmark. It needed work to make it fit correctly, like every other repro panel.  Ask Muscle Car Metal how he likes the Dcorn panels, which is what he primarily uses.

I like AMD parts, but their SS hood is not made by them ("X" coded part). That's also something I really appreciate - a manufacturer the caliber of AMD telling you which parts they make, and which they source.

If I were buying one, I'd likely choose them due to their reliability and reputation. You can always look to a supplier like Summit, for freight deals and return policies. It's rare that panels don't get dinged in transit, so look for guarantees on intact delivery. Keep looking, always - SS hoods pop up all the time around here, flea markets, swap meets, Craig's list. Don't give up -

I would never sand blast a hood.

If they blasted the underside you may never get the sand out from behind the bracing. Used ones are out there.
