I noticed these are 40 bucks cheaper at one place compared to the Goodyear.  Anyone going to try them?

If the repop sports 200 is anything like my original "farm wagon tire",  it might take someone giving me a set to run them, and I can't say wth 100% confidence that would even do it. So the $40 wouldn't make a difference to me.
Also I love the look of the squared off look of Goodyear wide tread GT. I was fortunate that the previous owner of my red Z purchased them already, but I am sure he rolled it into the purchase  price of the car. So I paid for it, just not directly. Luckily I also got the BFG's that he took off the car, and those will be used on the white Z. Even regular radials are expensive these days though. I do not look forward to replacing tires on any of my daily drivers.

Ha ha you remembered wagon tire!
This was my spare a guy before sold separately on ebay. I talked to him and he said it was with the car. This is off his eBay ad.

Bill let me tell you a little secret, you don't have some special Spots Car 200 tire that looks like it came off some farm equipment.  :o
I have seen a decent amount of them. They all look like that! ;D (my original spare included)

Chevrolet (GM) must have gotten a hell of a deal from Firestone, or Goodyear must have raised the price on the wide tread GT. If given the choice I can't see anyone wanting the Spots car 200 tire over the goodyear, now or then.

Luckily we have the choice right now.

Speaking of which if anyone has a nice set of widetread GT Goodyears send me a PM.   8)

I didn't realize those tires were looked down on.  Those tires are one of the things that really stuck in my head when my brother drove up in his brand new Z in the summer of 1969!  I had never seen a tread pattern like those had and I thought they must be some kind of special race tire that came on Z/28's.  :)  I was 13 at the time.  I have no idea how they drove or how the traction was.  His car had a side post battery too, and I think that was the first time I had seen one of those.  We were kind of a car oriented family so I knew about car stuff even then. :)

Are the Sport Car 200 tires lousy on the road?

I will be the first to say I haven't driven on them, but my fellow CRG'er Jack has and his review of them was not favorable. So besides a little different looking ride quality was poor. I would invite anyone else with Sport car 200 tires experience to chime in, good or bad.

I've driven quite a few of both Firestone and Goodyear reproduction, but never the Firestone Sport Car version.  I will say I don't have any problem with the Firestone Wide Ovals or the Goodyear Polyglas.   They both drive pretty nice for me on the street.  Takes a couple of minor changes in the front end alignment to enjoy these bias tires.

Even with that said, the only difference I see with the Sport Car tires are the tread design.  Could have an impact on how it drives but without swapping them on a known good driving car I couldn't say for sure.   The tread gives me the impression that it might be squirmy.   I certainly wouldn't be afraid to try them myself though.  I don't look down on them.   I kind of find them refreshing in an odd way when I occasionally see them on a Z.  Something a little different.

I have them on my car, and there ARE squirmy as hell. Can't recommend them. I still have a set of original good years, but was concerned at how old they are!

I have the reproduction good years now and sometimes you can feel it drift sideways but I kind of like how it corners. Radials probably better but I don't mind these

I would agree with your assessment Bill. I have a smaller bias ply on my Mustang, and every so often it may follow a crack in the road, but nothing major. Love the look of the vintage tires.
The goodyear wide tread GT is a great tire, I wouldn't say a huge difference between it and a BFG
