I have a 68 L30/M20 Camaro I bought in 68. Over the years I had to replace the M20 transmission with another M20 transmission from another year car. I saved the original M20 and after reading that the original M20 transmission had heavy duty parts I was wondering if those parts are still available so I could rebuild that original Transmission? Or is this just a waste of time since the trans is light duty to begin with?

Thanks

I would check with Jody on the Team Camaro site. Let me see if I can find his information.

I sent him a PM. Will send you a PM with his information. Crash may also work in Saginaws too, not sure.

Just Google Jody's Transmissions to find his website.

Right.

Jody Haag - Jodys Transmissions.

Crash - Eric Davidson - Crash Enterprises.

Either one should be able to help you.

And I guess part of you earlier post was not answered. The Saginaw M20 is not a high performance unit, and it does have limited strength. But if you are looking to keep the car numbers matching/original, then just don't abuse it. It would be OK for a stock L30 if not abused.

The Muncie M20 is a tougher transmission, but if abused, it will break too.

Back in the day (early 70's) I've seen the trans case exploded as well. Gears were fine!  ???

Looks like a clutch let go without a blowproof bell housing to me.
