(By the way Gary, it's neat that your last four numbers in the vin are your model year!)

:)  Yes, I took note of that also when I cleaned the trim tag so I could read it...  Just a lucky? turn of the numbers I suppose..?
I wonder how many others have such a 'numbers' coincidence in their VIN or body number?   the numbers '1967', '1968', and '1969' would reoccur every 10,000 cars... :)

I swear, you guys! Looks like you all jumped all over this question.

Thanks, and let us come to a consensus. Like Gary, I cannot believe Chevy would take the time to mask off or use one of their famous 'coffee can' covers. This bit of minutia was prompted by a friend's pic of paint work he was having done on his 69.  His pic of  his car's firewall showed this loom masked off. Masked off, I say! I thought, why? Seems I recall paint on my rubber part of the loom, but, hey, as a young buck I was pretty much a maniac with the rattle can, lol.
So, I decided I wanted to get the low down.

If you mean the steel bracket, mine was MIA and I got one from a parts car to spotweld back in place. Have never seen them repro'd.

The easiest place to get any of those odd non repro parts is from any Classic car salvage yard.  Plenty of them out there.  Look for the locations where the weather may not be as harsh.

Case in point, I just recently bought the passenger side "A pillar post"  for another 69 I'm working on.  The entire post from dash to roof was $52 with shipping.  I bought it from "All American Classic"  and spoke with a gentleman named Forest.  He was very eager and pleased to help.
