Does anyone know if brake hoses were dated and what format was used? Thanks.

All brake hoses are dated - it's a federal (MVSS) requirement; don't recall the format offhand.

This is just on the flexible hoses correct? Probably going to have a run of brake hoses on ebay now.

Just looked at the front hoses on my 69 and they're dated 05/16/77. The rear no longer has any print although I can see a bit of red striping at one end.
I need to replace the brake hoses on this car so I picked up a set through AcDelco and they are made in China. They look like nice hoses and fittings except for the name "Susong" printed on the rubber and laser etched on the fittings. So, then I got to thinking about the repros with the "correct" red lettering (ebay) and that got me thinking about the dates printed on them. Is it safe to assume that the brake hose dates would range from 0 to 3+ weeks prior to the body build date?

When I was building my car I was given information that things like this could be as far as 90 days out. Remember these weren't made just for new car assembly but as replacements for cars already on the road.

Yeah, May also make sense that the hose was inked and dated as a roll before hose assemblies were constructed.

Chick, how would you interpret that date code in the second pic?

I just changed out both front hoses on my 69 (discs). They lasted 44 years and a month. One line was plugged - caliper was locked on. The right line was flowing but the car pulled hard to the left when you first applied the brakes (indicating it was partly plugged too).
Changed both. The NAPA parts look the same except for the crimp on the fittings. One new part was gold zinc - the other one was silver. The originals look gold, btw.
Stops straight again.
Sometime I'll shoot some pics of the originals....
