According to that article, taht ZL1 was/is owned by John Hooper, who is an early author of a Camaro book.. I've got one of them lying around somewhere..  OK..  Here it is:

"The 1969 Camaro Reference book..  from 'A' to 'Z'...  "   copyright 1991.

That was one of the first books I saw for the '69 Camaro...

I feel for the guy. You buy your dream car, probably took awesome care of it. The you bring it to the dealer to get a small (paint) issue resolved and one of their employees wrecks it. I thought dealerships carried insurance for such occurrences ? While I have no idea what "comparable " cars they are offering him, I would want a new car if I was him, or find a comparable car at another dealer and let them work it how to put it in his hands.

I don't think there's any such thing as a 'comparable' used car, to one that you saved/scraped for, bought new, and cared for like a member of the family over 10,000 miles...  I don't think I'd *ever* be satisfied with someone else's 'used' car...  they should let him order a new ZL-1 (or Z28?) with any options/colors he wants, and hope he doesn't sue them...

John has written 6 camaro books.

Yes, that's what the article stated.  My post was trying to say that he had written one of the *first Camaro books* that I was aware of (the 1991 book on 1969 Camaros).  I didn't have knowledge of his other books.   After your post, I did some digging to try to identify the six books, but this was all I could come up with...

1. "The 1969 Camaro Reference book..  from 'A' to 'Z'...  "   copyright 1991. (two used copies on Amazon: $155, & $175)
2. "The illustrated Camaro recognition guide" 1967-'69', volume 1, copyright 1992.  (available used from $40-$60)
3. "The Big Book of Camaro Data, 1967-73", copyright 1995.   ($75 new, $45 used)
4. "The illustrated Camaro recognition guide" 1967-'69', volume 2, copyright ??...  info not found...
5. "Conclusive Camaro Recognition Guide Volume 3: 1970-1973: Everything you always wanted to know
      about 1970-1973...", copyright 2013,  ($14.79 new, $14.21 used).
6. ?????????

There are apparently 3 volumes to his recognition guide, and I found Volumes 1 and 3, but I couldn't find anything on Vol 2 online? And this only brings the total to five.   Can anyone else add information to this list of Camaro books by John Hooper??

How about the other customer who took his Camaro SS into a dealership and two employees were doing burn outs until they fried the clutch, and conspired to blame the customer. It's in the Hooper story... under mechanics doing burn outs in blue.

Just read this posting...man, that really sucks. Georgetown Delaware is about an hour or so from me I had no idea Mr. Hooper lived in Delaware or does he and he just bought his Camaro in the state.
