rear bumper bracket

Can anyone tell me what the finish was from the factory on the center rear bumper bracket on 1968 Camaros, i.e. is it black like the others or chromed with the bumper? Repros are chromed but I think this was not so on factory parts. This is the bracket riveted to the  bumper.
