Does anybody know of or heard the story of this Camaro before? Why would someone take all the good parts off and save with the protecto plate just does not sound right.

Do you have a link or any identification as to what car your talking about?

I owned this car for 13 years and was told that story from the guy I bought it from. The title I received when I bought the car was never put in that sellers name and had the previous owners name on it.
I contacted that owner in July of 2007 and had a nice conversation with him. He verified that the previous owner had stripped off all of the good parts but that he always new it was an original JL8 car. He did not know what a POP was so if this was kept with "all of the good parts", it is certainly plausible that the POP and parts were reunited with the original car as this story goes on to say.
I sold the car last year thru Volo to John Cena, WWE wrestler who sold it this summer with a few other cars to a Exotic car dealer in Naples, Florida.

I love those vintage photos; especially the one with the big, honking trailer hitch!

Thanks for the link!

As an aside, there was a Z in the Detroit area that I called about in the mid-90's. Kid had it and it was candy apple red. Wasn't what I wanted. But the kid asked where he could get some brakes for the car.
Umm, any parts store.
No, this has the bigger disks up front. Really? Yeah, the guy before me pulled the DZ motor and the JL8 axle and kept them.

This was before I kept records, so no other info on the car. And I don't know if it's been 'found'.

I was told by the the guy on the title as mentioned earlier in this discussion that the trans for this car ended up in a station wagon. I never identified what the actual trans was and didn't care since it wasn't the original anyhow.
Maybe someone else can chime in on this one.

Quotewhat kind of trans stamp is that?

It's a Muncie 4 speed assembled on March 26th, 1965. I would need to see the VIN to tell you what it came out of.

I don't have any pictures of a vin number and the trans was never out when I owned it.

Weak version of the Muncie - has the smaller (7/8") cluster pin.
