Julian date would be the 238th day of the calendar year

Originality / Re: 69 smallblock (302) Oil dip sticks

Mine has the flat tip dipstick, but haven't included that as a data point as it was in a CE-block engine. May or may not be original, depends on what was swapped over.

General Discussion / Re: Age Groups of Our Hobby

This time around, I'm in the 40-49 bracket, although I was tempted to answer '0-19' based on attitude and behavior sometimes.

A thread I started here some years ago asking a similar question:

I understand why some are cautious, especially if they have a valuable/rare/desirable car and are concerned  their name, home address etc could be found if someone with DMV records access was asked for a favour.....
Bigger concern is publicly posting photos that have GPS data embedded, giving location. Many don't even realise.

Thanks! Casting date would be great info too

A number of owners of original cars have said despite the AIM calling up 3 clips, theirs have only had 2.....
Can't comment based on my car, the clips were not in place when I bought it.

Thanks!

Originality / Re: 1969 valance panel painting
November 23, 2020, 02:06:11 AM
Joe...checked mine, but inconclusive due to patina. In general, there is hardly any body colour on the inside of any front end panels on my car - maybe a LOS detail - so all I can say is, that part of the bracket has a finish consistent with the inside of header, valance, fenders etc.

Joe... fascinated by that car, what's the back story?
Agree the tag date is 03E.

Welcome. If you do buy the car (or take another look) and can make out the partial, please update this thread with the full VIN and the current location. If the car does turn up, that will at least give a future starting point to try tracking the block again.

Research Topics & Reports / Re: Gas tank date codes
November 17, 2020, 03:57:36 AM
Only speculation, but look at the dates in Kurt's latest data summary for the likely cut-off point for the traditional model year when 69 production was extended:
07A 49 69
08A  1 70
Hints at resetting the MY week number at the beginning of August.
Based on that approximation, tank dates of week 17-18 fit in well with 12B December projected assembly, granted that the Fisher calendar does not necessarily align with annual calendar months.

Restoration / Re: Dated hose clamps

Should have added that Bentley kindly helped me source NOS clamps from Mock Auto some years back. And as others mentioned, many vendors sell the reproduction tower clamps, but they are thinner metal than the 'original' Wittek clamps, and (at best) you only get one chance at tightening them properly on the hose. Best to look out for dated or even undated NOS items, which appear identical to, and install like, dated take-offs.

Pretty sure the go-to supplier for Wittek clamps is Bill Mock, try Mock Auto Specialties. Also specialises in water pumps.

General Discussion / Re: EO Z/28

Gary, I stand by my comment, which I don't believe is in any way offensive. The subject was discussed at length several years ago, nothing more to add, and nothing productive to this forum and the vast majority of it's membership, to revisit all that negativity. I'm out.
