Seen this on the yenko site. Car still has the original trunk weatherstrip. If  you look closely on the right front side you can see the orange line in it. Trunk spatter looks to be a stringy mess when it was put on . neat car

I thought the paint was pretty shiney for original and alot of stuff has been restored under the hood. Glove box is very glossy too

I noticed these are 40 bucks cheaper at one place compared to the Goodyear.  Anyone going to try them?

I got to go to the Trans Am race at Sebring over the weekend and it was interesting. All the cars I looked at were tube frame race cars. Theres 4 divisions and from what I could tell the TA class could run a 358 v-8 and were mostly corvettes and some mustangs. Only a couple camaros. The mustang bodies, all were conposite, were wider and really aerodynamic in the front. Might be why you didnt see many camaros. The corvette looked pretty stock. The middle 2 classes,TA2 AND TA3, used the stock engines and must buy them from certain builders and from what I was told couldnt touch them. Seemed like an IROC class.  The cars were still tube frames and race cars. They seemed to have rules on the amount you could spend on shocks and brakes and such. It was interesting, corvette and camaro could use the 7 liter while the mustang was stuck with a 5.0 coyote or the new voodoo motor. The GM cars had thorottle body size restrictions and most of the cars had some kind of weight which the GMS tended to be heavier. It was real interesting. One guy with a camaro in the stock motor class said in the back straight he was hitting 158 mph. There were about 6 cars in the slowest class, TA4, and some sounded like 6 cylinders but I didnt see anything online about what they ran.
Sad thing, I seemed to have deleted the camaro pictures I had of the car with the hood off!! It looked stock and even had a SLP cold air kit on it. Soo, you get pictures of Peter Klutts Dream Car Garage Challenger!! Not many Challengers there.
Sebring is an old Army airbase and a rough concrete track. The pits were all concrete and was a nice place to look around.

I ran across this today.   Guy claims it's originall car. Kind of neat. Bad part is no feedback and poor pictures . I first thought it was butternut but it's white.

I went  to the local Burger King Cruise in tonight. On a good night they will have a hundred cars. They had two first generation Camaros one I had not seen before. I looked at the trim tag and it's the same week as my Z28. I looked at the VIN number and it was 6 behind mine. So the next time we get to Park beside each other and maybe we'll see if they remember going down the assembly line together

My 3 or so years old restoration battery has given up and had read there might  be another battery inside the case? Anyone cut one open? Thought I might save the case.
Friend had one and wherever he bought his they told him if it was not on a tender constantly they would not warranty it. I got a good charge in  mine after it was acting up and it would hold a load which seems to be good for starting the car 3 times then it is dead and has lost its load capability. Of course the fourth time was when the car was in the trailer and I'm trying to unload it at the show

I was up till 2 am last night doing finishing touches on my Z, and took it to its first show today. I was thrilled for the car to win best first generation Camaro!  I want to thank everyone who gave me advice, opinions, a few of you did some work for me. It is finally done! I got a few little things I could do and the reproduction battery decides after 3 years it's good for 3 starts and I get to the show and dead in the trailer. The pace car in the background is owned by Dave Roberts of Right Stuff detailing.

I have a few parts left over and found these clips in a bag marked door panels. Looks like a left and right version. I even searched the hbc website and no luck. Anyone know what they are?

I got my hood on today and it doesn't fit too bad and the stripes line up until the hood is latched and you can see the rear of the hood move toward the side enough, the stripes are off in the back. I messed with the Latch some and about all that moved was the front. Anyone have any ideas?

coil bracket with the "notch" is not unique to the Z/28; originals don't have the notch, although the eBay sellers want you to believe they did, so they can claim they're "rare". The one in the photo is clearly from another application, as it has the screw to attach the radio noise suppresson capacitor, which was never used on a '69 Camaro.

I am looking for the bolt that goes in the alternator bracket that holds the heater hose clip. Mine was gone. It looks like a recessed head and a self tapping thread.  Amk does not have this bolt and was wondering if anyone ran across it use someplace else? It looks like a smaller version have a brake line bolt

I found where someone is making new ones for a big block but has anyone seen new small block brackets?

The AIM calls the thin head bolt a bolt assembly. should it have a flat or lock washer on it? It didnt look like it took much torque, I wouldn't think it would be a captured lock washer.

He states he has another piece of the car that isnt for sale in this auction. VIN or cowl tag???

I was trying to install the tailights in the trunk panel and not having any luck on getting them to stay tight and not turn. I didnt find them in the aim either. I am trying my original studs and noticed the tab on one had twisted itself up. is there a way they should be orientated so they catch in the hole?

I am trying to find new tags for my springs and the first set I bought are too narrow. Mine are an inch wide on an 03D car.  The ones I bought were copied off an original set. If you have your originals, how wide and when was your car built?

I was wondering if my Z bar got short changed in the plating vat? Is this normal? looks like part of it was sticking out of the mix!

I am having trouble getting my cowl white to look right. I didnt like what the painter did and now struggling myself! I want to have a natural overspray without a tape line. So far I drifted too much down on the firewall black and the next time I backtaped to where I was happy with drift and it looked good but the tape caught enough drift, it directed paint back to the firewall and left a faint line under my nice edge. So I am ready for my next and hopefully last attempt. I have the gun at a 45° angle to the cowl and spraying from the windshield  to the front of the car.
has anyone found a neat trick to spray the cowl and not have a tape line or overspray all over the firewall?
I am thinking I might try a piece of cardboard in front of the cowl and hold it like 1/8 of an inch from the firewall. this might be like my back tape but if the cardboard is angled away from the firewall it shouldnt leave a line. I will add a couple pictures. one of how I hold the gun the other of my cardboard idea. if anyone has a good idea I am ready!

I read the EO car was going to be there so I thought I would look the cars over. I ran across this one.
It says its mostly original paint but sure has alot of shine. I also thought it looked to be fluffed quite a bit under the hood. PBT of both colors, crayon on the fiewall. Its alot of red

My block still had the original bolts in it and I took them out and now I cant find them!!  Does anyone have any record of what went in there ? I looked the AIM over pretty good and didnt find them in there either. They are the two that might be 3/8 by an inch

I found this with my front harness and not sure where it goes. may not be in front but thats only harness I removed. its 18 inches long and I assume a ground. one end is broken off and other end has odd terminal. I decided I've looked long enough!

I wasn't sure what this bracket that goes on the back is called but wanted to make sure it was 60% gloss black?  Jerry's book calls it spacer and it looks black.

I am not having any luck so thought I would ask. The clip that holds the lower windshield molding on, appears to be held on by a hex head bolt or screw.  Mine seem to be missing. Anyone have any idea on are they in the body manual or a place to get them? I have not seen any glass info in the aim and not sure where my fisher body book is.

My windshield and back glass trim is dent free but needs shined up. I talked to a guy who has polished trim with years of experience and he said he starts off with 180 grit sanding. I assume that will remove the flash chrome?  Has anyone had their trim re chromed with clear?  Was curious if people are just taking chrome off and polishing or what.
