Didn't have any luck searching for this. What color should this bracket that holds the booster hose on the intake be? Mine is bare, Jerrys book says natural or silver cadium dichromate. If mine was plated its gone

Restoration / subframe gloss and eastwood satin
October 07, 2012, 09:48:46 PM
Eastwood  calls their satin 2k chassis paint 60-70% gloss. The gloss a 80. Jerrys book said 30% for subframe, floors and core support. Anyone used Eastwood satin and is it too much? I can get ppg also. Thanks  for the input

Originality / 1969 Z28 white cowl
October 07, 2012, 08:06:15 PM
Had several requests for pictures of my white cowl.  I pulled the cover off and it is really painted nice underneath. I just noticed it looks like the start of one of the stripes at the top. Someone painted the firewall with a brush so the line from the black to the white isnt acurate

Anyone have an original z with the open element air cleaner that could post a picture of the passenger side? I would like to see how your hose comes off the valve cover and into the base of the air cleaner. I saw a old road test picture where the hose is on different than mine and trying to figure it out. I have two air cleaner bases, the original and a repop, and the repop doesnt fit right. Tube is welded too far up in it.
Thanks

Restoration / 69 brake calipers
September 07, 2012, 03:37:42 PM
My z has some problems with the front calipers. The mechanic helping me is concerned the pistons are pretty rusty. I am wondering, can someone rebuild these with new pistons? I have seen kits but with no pistons.  My buddy has a set of calipers off a 69 or 70 chevelle and the pistons measure just over 2.75 inches in diameter. Would these work? we put mine back on and didnt measure them.
also,  does anyone stainless steel sleeve these like corvettes?

Originality / Radiator painting
July 14, 2012, 10:13:29 AM
It looks like my radiator probably needs a core. Normally they come back are look like they are dipped in something nasty!  Any special paint others have used or just plan on using the same on the radiator as what will be the same gloss under the hood?
Thanks

Mild Modifications / shocks
July 12, 2012, 07:55:54 PM
Hello
I am going to have to change my front springs in my 69 Z and wondered if I should change the shocks. Car has mr gasket super drag shocks on the front and monro matics on the back.  Seen kyb and blistens that people liked, along with edelbrocks but jegs doesnt seem to have edlebrocks.
I wont do anything other than a little spirited driving, no racing.  Only person who drove my car was the original owner so the shocks on it have been there a while. I havent drove it enough to know if what I have are any good either

Thanks

Originality / Interior on 69
February 12, 2012, 04:24:46 PM
I have been trying to learn as much as I can while looking at z28s.  Little confused after seeing several.
I found a nice rs car with houndstooth.  It has a console but no wood trim on dash. I read where it should have some on the drivers side. It doesnt.  It also has standard door panels. I am thinking it should have base seats and no console?  It doesnt have the dash assist handle either and no radio.
The other car I saw did have the console and wood on drivers side, and it had the handle, standard seats and door panels.  So was the handle an option or only part of the z87?  Could you get z23 without z87?

Thank you, been spending way too much time reading info on here!
