Trans-Am Camaros / Sovren PNW Historics
July 23, 2019, 12:58:20 PM

I recently attended the Sovren PNW Historics July 6 and was able to meet Mitch Bishop, youngest
son of IMSA founder John Bishop. In 72 I was able to race in the Glen, Mid-Ohio, and Nov. Daytona
Camel Gt races, with co-driver Rick Stevens in the ex Alfie Ruys de Perez 69 camao T/A car. Bishop
had kept a 5.0 litre touring class open for early T/A racers and we managed a 3rd in class in each race.
John Bishop was very racer friendly, and actually returned our entry fee from the 73 Pocono race, after
we broke the trans early in practice and didn't have a spare, and had to load up for home!

According to the website, 21 Historic T/A cars are listed to compete.

If you are in the NE, take a visit to this historic and most challenging track.

Might even get to meet some of the old gang I used to race with in the paddock !

If you are in the Pacific NW, you might like to stop by
and say hello to racing legend Mr. George Follmer,
who will be the guest of honour at this vintage race weekend.
Pacific Raceways (Kent WA) held a T/A race from 67 to 70.

I see 29 entries listed for the HTA group 10 on the SVRA Sonoma Historics site.
Unable to make it down this year - great track for viewing.  Just park yourself in
the grandstand near the paddock.

I hope to attend this Saturday the 50th celebration of the first T/A at Pacific Raceways.
While I didn't race that weekend, I was there as a spectator.

This was the weekend that the famous Local Yuk button was born.
There is a a great story in the latest Sovren June 2017 quarterly mag including
a pic of Jerry Titus bumping into the back of the Russ Harness camaro that led to
Titus destroying his Mustang - he had to borrow the McComb Mustang for the race.

I will proudly wear a Local Yuk button if I can find one.

This was my first T/A race - did have this program at one time, but now gone.  Was purchased at
the Village Variety Shop in downtown Glen.  Price is fair but high shipping costs?

Trans-Am Camaros / Tony Adamowicz 1941 - 2016 RIP
October 11, 2016, 01:01:03 PM
Tony passed recently - had been fighting brain cancer.  He was 68 T/A 2 litre champ in a Porsche 911.
In 66 he raced Darts and the ARA Javelin for Roy Woods in 71. Tony was a prolific racer.  See ultimateracinghistory.com

Until a few years ago had been vintage racing the 69 Eagle F 5000 car he used to drive.
He was an approachable guy - always willing to chat about racing.

Last time I met him at a vintage event, we shared a few laughs about our adventures at the 71 LIme Rock T/A rain race.

Brock drove in 3 T/A races in 71 in a 69 Warren Agor Camaro.

Robin Miller in   "Racer" wrote a nice tribute story.

Trans-Am Camaros / SVRA at the Glen Sept. 8-11
August 30, 2016, 03:21:00 PM
There will be a 50th T/A celebration at the Glen, and I plan to be there.
You can stop by and say hello either at the Bobby Brown pit (former Can-Am racer),
and now vintage racing,  who also raced a 67 camaro at 2 T/A events in 67  You might
find me also at the Chad Raynal operation, who is looking after several HTA cars.

Trans-Am Camaros / Road & Track February 2016
July 14, 2016, 09:32:48 PM
Just had a chance to-day to look through this issue.  There are some pics of the early "Glory Days" and an
interesting story by auto journalist Zach Bowman who gets to drive some track laps at Road Atlanta in the
'lightweight' 67 Penske camaro, now owned by Pat Ryan. The camaro now has 515 hp but has been put back to
67 specs by Ryan.

Gee, I wonder if Pat would let me do a few laps also?
