Decoding/Numbers / Block stamp
November 18, 2016, 07:08:03 PM
I have been able( thanks to this site) to determine that my block stamp decodes to (3956618) 68-79 302 4 bolt, 327, 350 4 bolt. Can I determine further just which of these three it is from this stamp? If not what is my next step to finding out the true cid of this engine please. And thank you.

General Discussion / U17 gauge cluster
November 07, 2016, 01:17:31 PM
I have a 67 u17 gauge cluster. In very nice shape. No wiring no tach for the dash, just the Gage's in their consol housing. This is an original piece. I have no idea what to ask for this. Can anyone tell  me what a fair price for this item would be.

Decoding/Numbers / Decode protector plate
June 30, 2015, 12:52:57 PM
my 67 ragtop came with the protecto plate. It is still attached to the original owners manual. It looks to be white plastic. Running up the left side of the card it says  protecto plate. Running up the right side it says General Motors of Canada limited. Top left it gives the original owners name and just under that the city and province slightly down and to the right of the card are the following #,s and letters. FC 0019627. Just below this is a G and an M just below it. Then the date 07.  08.  67. To the right of that are the numbers 84070 . And below that is the vin. I am having some difficulty decoding it. this protecto plate does not look at all like the one shown on the CRG website. It is in great shape and looks just like a white charge card.   Can someone decode this for me please

Restoration / Saginaw speedo gear
June 29, 2015, 09:38:46 PM
My 67 ragtop was originally a 327 3 speed Standard but the previous owner installed a 1973 to. 1975 Saginaw 4 speed. However the speedometer does not work on the car. I removed the speedo cable from the tranny and the little plastic gear is missing from the end of the speedometer cable. Does any one by chance have a part number and or pics of this item. My main case number is 3925656 and the ext. housing number is 326558. I believe this to be a sag from 73/74. I am live in Canada and would like to pick up the gear so I can get the speedo working. Also is there a clip that holds this in the tranny or does it just slide in on the end of the cable. Thank you. Any help would be appreciated.

Restoration / 67 bumper bent?
December 21, 2014, 08:23:44 PM
Is there a simple or foolproof way of checking to see if your front bumper is bent? My 67 pass side lower fender section is on crooked. It appears as though when they assembled the car (before I bought it) the body shop had to put the lower fender section on ascue to allow them to put the bumper on. The body lines of this lower section do not lineup. The bumper looks fine although the gaps at the inside of either bumper end are not consistent.         Wow is this as confusing a question as I think it is ?

Restoration / 67 rag exhaust replacement
December 21, 2014, 05:51:23 PM
Hello all. I need some advice on replacing my entire exhaust on my 67. I live in Canada. I am not sure if I should just go to a muffler shop or if I should order a package and do it myself. I will be going to the Portland swap meet in April. Should I just buy a set there and bring it back to Canada? If so can anyone recommend a manufacturer that will allow me to replace it myself without to much hassle. Any and all comments are gratefully accepted, thanks. And Merry Christmas to all, especially to all those in the service to Canada and the USA, Law enforcement, emergency personnel and the military.thank you so much for all you do.

Decoding/Numbers / canadian protectoplate
January 21, 2014, 12:12:01 AM
I have been trying to decipher the  protecto plate for my 67 ragtop. The car was purchased in Ontario Canada in July 1967. The protectoplate is still attached to the back page of the  original owner protection plan booklet. The problem is it does not look at all like the protectoplate example on the CRG site. Are the Canadian protectoplates different from the U S ones and is there any info available that could help me with my Canadian protectoplate. I have been able to ascertain the rear axle is a 308 10 bolt non posi dated June 13 from the Detroit Gear and axle 1st shift.  I have also confirmed, to the best of my knowledge, it still has the born with 327.  I will attempt to find out what the original manual tranny is, as it is in a box under my work bench. The car has a 4 speed standard in it right now. (Still haven't had time to discover what the tranny in the car is yet.)  I just purchased the car this past summer and immediately put it in storage while I built my garage.  The garage is finished and I am now busy renovating the house from top to bottom.  This reno is unfortunately preventing me from spending much time on the car. I am going to attempt to post some pics soon.   I am not the most proficient person when it comes to computers so it may take a bit of work.  Is there a section on this great site that gives instructions on how to post pics?  Thanks Jimbo

Decoding/Numbers / Partial vin
January 15, 2014, 12:26:40 AM
Having trouble finding the partial vin on my engine block.  The car is a 1967 rag top 327  3 speed Saginaw.  The tag on the block just ahead of the pass side cyl head shows T 0607   K. This tells me June 7 tonawanda plant   But what does the k tell me? It does not show a partial vin at all. It is possible that the block has been decked and the partial vin was shaved off.  Is there another location on the block where the partial vin might be. The casting on the back of the block drivers side shows 3903352. I believe this tells me it is a 327 275 horse.  I was told by the previous owner this is a numbers car and I would sure like to confirm this.   I also have the protecto plate if this helps. Thanks for any help.

Originality / Original?
December 05, 2013, 11:08:16 PM
I have been an on off member of this site for 3 or 4 years but have been very busy with life the last year or so and have not been involved . I did own a sweet rs ss 67 ragtop clone for 4years but sold it this past June when we moved.  I recently bought another 67 ragtop and  immediatly put the car in storage to build a garage.  I am the fourth owner and have the original protector plate for the car. The previous owner says the car is numbers matching. I have not had time to confirm this due to the garage build and the car being in storage. It is a 327 four barrel 3 speed Saginaw with a deluxe/custom interior. 10 bolt open rear end.Manual brakes manual top.  This car has the factory set of console gauges and dash tack.  I know these features were all available at the time of production but is it a little odd to see a non rs ss car with the gauge package and deluxe interior with a 3 speed Saginaw.  Where the 3 speed sags  ;Dcommon in these cars.Help with info please.

Restoration / 67 Rs consol guage install
November 30, 2011, 09:31:31 PM
??? ??? I have a 67 ss rs clone ragtop.  I found an original set of console gauges this past summer and I would like to install them.  My car has never had the   console gauges so i need to install the wiring setup for this part.  Classic industries seems to have the wiring conversions i need although they tell me i have 2 options as far as this project goes. The first is to replace the entire underdash wiring harness so that it is compatible to the console gauge conversion wiring kit in their catalogue.   The other option is to just buy the console gauge conversion wiring kit and hard wire it to the existing underdash harness.   The car is complete and is beautiful.  I do not really want to pull out the underdash wiring harness as it works fine.  QUESTION    Has anyone out there done this before?  What are the trials and tribulations of such a project?  Thanks for any and all input.    Jim

Restoration / 67 vert top adjustment
May 22, 2011, 07:32:19 PM
??? ??? ???I just noticed the other day that the rag top on my 67 when fully up and secure is sitting about 3/8 of an inch short on the top of the windsheild chrome above the window.  This is causing a gap between the top of the vent window and the under side of the top. I had the top and frame removed when the car was painted and it is obvious to me now that the top is not forward enough when fully up and secure; Please does anyone know how i adjust the top frame so that i can move it forward about 3/8 of an inch.  Any help would be greatly appreciated,  Thanks  Jimbo :) :) :)

Restoration / window regulator and parts
April 20, 2011, 10:46:45 PM
I am hoping some one can post some pics of a 67 door interior ie window regulators and all the other parts. I stripped my car for paint and made a detailed drawing of the parts and  were they go but have miss placed the drawings.  My drivers window keeps falling inside the door. I have a couple of small angle brackets left over with a rubber cap on the top. i beleive these are designed as window guides or stops but i am not sure. I do not know where these are supposed to go. I have looked thru the crg website but cannot find an answer.  If possible a schematic or drawing iwould be very helpful. Thanks  Jimbo

General Discussion / 67 project finished
March 06, 2011, 07:46:05 PM
:D :D :D Hi All     Over the years i have had many collectible cars like most of us on this site. My first real collectable was a 67 rs ss hard top lt1 4 speed camaro i bought just out of high school in 1975.  After 3 years of keeping this car on the road as well as miles of burning rubber and a glove box with its share of stunting tickets in it i had to sell the car. A decision i regret to this day.  Since then i have had a 62 nova rag,66 beaumont 2 door hard top, 64 beaumont 2 door hard top, 68 mini, 67 fire bird rag top, 65 chevy short box step side, 71 camaro, and 3 years ago i completed a 58 impala hot rod. Last summer a fella wanted the impala more than i did and i sold it for 38 large.  In september i bought a 67 rs ss ragtop tribute camaro originally from texas. It was white with z stripes and a zz4 engine with 2000 miles on it. It is now finished.  The car is now 2010 gm carbon flash black with a turquoise deluxe interior  and a turquoise nose stripe. Thank you to all on this site who helped with their knowledge last fall when i was deep into the resto. here are some pics of my ride.  Thanks again. Jimbo

Restoration / cowl induction air cleaner 67
March 06, 2011, 04:25:45 PM
I am going to the portland swap meet in late march, early april. Hoping to find a cowl induction air cleaner setup for my car. Does anyone have a pic they could put up here for reference.  Also i would like to replace my mono leaf springs with a multi leaf of some sort.  What are my options for a direct bolt on.  Looking for cocktail shakers also.  my car is a 67 rs ss tribute, will i have a problem bolting the shakers up front due to the fact my car is a clone or is it an easy job.  Also is anyone else going to the portland meet that would like to grab a beer or two?   Jimbo

Restoration / 67 rs ss wheel colors
February 18, 2011, 02:18:39 PM
hi all i have a 67 ragtop that is an rs ss tribute. can someone tell me what color rims were offered with this car. it has a set of original camaro ralley rims with the beauty ring and the chrome center cap ,mexican hat style, bow tie logo and chevrolet  motor division lettering. not to be confused with the corvette rally type hat. these rims are now silver, the car is black and a bit of a mild custom so concourse is not important. is silver correct and did they come black. or any other color?  thanks jimbo    ???

Restoration / 67 vent window removal
January 24, 2010, 07:56:50 PM
vent window is removed from the frame. is there a trick to removing the glass from the chrome trim that surrounds it. it seems to be glued into the rubber moulding inside the chrome trim. there is also a small hole in the chrome trim half way down. is this a fastener of some kind. also i tried to order two repop vent windows from classic industries and they are back ordered with no clue as to when they may be avaliable. any other sources out there for repop vent windows complete with glass and all or perhaps original equip in very good shape?
thanks jimbo
