Has anyone tried to duplicate the GM assembly plant process for installing an assembled subframe iwth engine/trans into an 'almost complete body from below?  If so, how did it work out for you?

My '69 has the original trunk mat, but it has tears and cuts.  Is there available any product to repair the mat which could 'weld' the rubber back together, from the bottom side?  I think I've seen a 'rubber weld' product, but I can't recall where or what.  Has anyone tried this and had any success?   

I don't expect it to look like a *new* one, but I'd really like to retain this original mat if at all possible...

Does anyone here have familiarity with replacing a broken stud in an original rear spoiler of a '69?   I'd like some information on how to remove the broken off stud, and source of a replacement stud and how it installs.  This stud may have been broken since factory installed it, and I don't want to damage the spoiler by my ignorance..

I'm trying to 'non-destructively' remove parts from my inner fenders for cleaning.  Pictured are the original clips for retaining the wiring harness and vacuum hoses along the drivers side inner fender.   Is it possible to remove these without damage for reinstallation?

OK guys.  I need some help.   I have an oriignal '69 Z28/RS in orange/orange/orange..   it has original hounstooth upholstery, most of which is in great condition, except for the driver's seat which shows 'dirt', wear', and tears.   I want to keep my car in 'original unrestored' condition, hopefully to show it in that class one day at the nationals, but the driver's seat upsets me..  I'm HOPING that someone has restored such an interior, and has their OLD original upholstery, enough of which is in decent condition that it could be used to repair my driver's seat.   If you are out there, and able to help me out, I will pay well for usable material (factory original, not old repro)..

It's been awhile since I've posted on here, so hopefully this will work.

My '69 Z28-RS has the original vinyl top (black).   It is in great condition for being 42+ yrs old, but it is drying out and shrinking a little...  in spite of my efforts every few years to apply a 'vinyl top preservative'.. 
My question is:    Is there anything else I can do to further preserve this top?  My car is unrestored, so I'm just cleaning and trying to put back the few original items that I removed many years ago.  I hope to enter it in the 'Unrestored Original' category at the nationals at some point.

Any suggestions appreciated..

My unrestored '69 Z28-RS has the PPG SOLEX DUPLATE type windshield, with a '69 date on it, but apparently this is a replacement, not the factory installation?   It was in the car in '76 when I bought it...

For an original 'unrestored' car, with all other glass original, should I replace this windshield with a repro?   

What is the best source for an original reproduction windshields?   Can you purchase with a correct date code?   US made windshield with correct thickness?  or a thinner foreign mfg?

I have  a pair of original '69 Z28 heads ('186') at the cylinder head shop for rework... cleaning, magnafluxing, pressure testing, new guides, new valves, springs, etc.  Everything is ready for assembly now, but the shop today told me that they seldom used the 'double springs' (with the damper inside) anymore; instead they typically use a single 'conical spring'... supposedly smaller diameter at the top than at the bottom?

I'm open to improvements, but I hate to change a good thing without understanding 'why'...
Do any of you have experience or knowledge of this spring type? And is it a good idea for a Z28/302 that I plan to rev towards 7000 rpm.... The company this shop uses is SBI (Nashville TN) for guides, valves, springs...   They will inistall whatever I want to pay for...   Any advice offered is welcomed.

The '69 Z28 used AC43 (non resistor) plugs originally, but I just tried to buy some at a NAPA store, and R43 was all they had.  And they didn't have solid core spark plug wires..  I'm trying to put my original 302 back 'as original' as I can get it...   so I need some help from people who recently went thru this on which spark plugs, wires, dist cap, etc...  to run..    which work well, and lose fewest points in original class judging...   Is running carbon core (resistor type) wire and resistor plugs an issue?   (I've ran solid core silicone wires for 40 yrs, so I'm not very current on what is best or available..   

Most available information says DZ4053 carbs were never 'vented', yet I've seen some on late '69 Z28's that were vented (and that appeared to be factory original).   

I'm interested in collecting information from any owners of '69 Z28's that have original carbs with the front bowl vents.   Anyone?

There were a few posts a year or so ago, re bumper jack and lug wrench color.  Consensus seems to be gray on the jack base, and mechanism, but has anyone identified a specific spray can color that is close to the original color, or were there variations depending on the mfg of the jack?

Re the lug wrench, I had two originals (one was gray and one was black)..  the blakc one may have been repainted.   Was a consensus reached on that?

Is anyone familiar with the original Chevrolet Performance book?   Around 50 pages of mostly handwritten engineering information and engineering drawings and parts numbers to help late '60's/early 70's camaro and corvette racers?   It was on 'green paper', so some people refer to these as 'green sheets' I believe.  I consider it to be the genesis or forerunner of the 'later' Chevrolet 'Power Book'.... 
Are these manuals available from anywhere?  Is there any interest in having copies reproduced?

Does anyone know of a readily availalbe Air Cleaner which has the same airhorn as the Cowl Induction AC for a '69 Z28?

In doing a little digging thru a Sept 1970 Parts book (covering 1964-1970 Chevrolet passenger cars), I found very complete rear axle, trans, and engine codes for all Chevrolets (except Corvette) from 64 thru 70, and also a complete description of the data contained on the PoP's for each of the relevant years.   Is this data available online anywhere?  I know the Camaro data is available on CRG, but the PoP data seemed more complete and descriptive than what I recall from the CRG..

Is there any evidence to show that 'late' (Sept and later 1969) Z28 valve covers had drippers?   I've owned my car since 1976; it has not been restored.   There was no evidence even when I purchased it that any work had ever been done to it, yet it had 'drippers' in the valve covers.  I'm hypothesizing that perhaps beginning at the time of 'normal '70 production' that the valve covers were updated to the drippers.   Current CRG information seems to claim that all '69 Z28 VC's did NOT have drippers?
