Restoration / 69 SS hood ornament gasket
July 23, 2010, 01:03:35 PM
My hood is leaking and assume I have no, or need to replace the gasket at the SS hood ornament, as I tightened the little screws ans it is still leaking. Does anyone recomend which one is best to install? The little nuts on the threaded studs look like they can get damaged easily, I suspect take care on removal and install? Can I buy these little nuts as well I suspect.
Thanks

Did you swap out the brass tab, and if so how did you get the old one out and new one in?

I see it is located on the passenger side, the hood does not have mounting holes, so I will need to drill, and this light kit did not come w/ screws, so I am going to have to guess on them, I assume no biggie here. I also got a new insulation pad, so hope to tackle both at the same time

Restoration / Underhood Light

I just bought an underhood light kit, it has what seems to be a place for a fuse along the wire, I pulled it open and it appears the fuse is broken and stuck ion one side? What should I be seeing in this when I pull it apart?

I bought 3 new grommets, took the top left grommett off and the brass tab is in the location as you mentioned, it tore when I removed the grommet...I cleaned it up w/ sandpaper as best I could and placeda new grommet and secured it, yet still not parking the wiper blades can I replace this old brass tab, it appears as if i can't get it out.

Intersting to know. How long do you keep them up, and is it by chance to see it, or do you notify us when car is on the home page? (which seems above and beyond!)

Can I try a ground jumper wire from motor to block (or wherever) to see if the wipers will rest in park befoer I pull the motor off to inspect the tab?

I am now able to work on this issue and do not visibly see a copper tab, should it be? All 3 look the same. I noted Ricks has some they sell and 1 has a tab, I also noted they sell a ground for switch, I did not noticve this at my switch.

Any pics people have would be great help and let me know if a pic of my situation would be helpful

Thanks

Maintenance / TH400 slipping
June 16, 2009, 01:49:08 PM
My tranny just started to slip in 2nd gear when I manual shift getting on the car hard Saturday. Flet normal under normal driving condistions. The fluid level is OK (maybe a tinybit overfilled, not much at all) , looks and smells fine, has only about 1,800 miles on the tranny and motor, yet done a few years ago before I bought the car. Should I drop the pan and replace filter and fluid, look for any damage, what would I look for?...Local quotes are $1,200 to rebuild, can bands be adjusted, servo-pin?
Thanks, I am learning as I go here, could tackle some work, just tranny work is out of my league I think.

I am in the middle of installing the ignitor II and I have the stock coil. I will be also removing the stock starter and replace a jegs mini starter. I am at the office and do not have car or instructions in front of me...., is the resistor in place as the diagram portrays, so I simply take red wire from to that location. I think the instructions for the starter are to eliminate the R terminal if I replced my points with this set up?
