Bryon,  I have a '67 RS/SS that has the underhood light installed with a bulb and the wiring in place.  My car has been restored, but there is no reason I know of why it should look any different than what it would have looked like originally.   Let me know if you would like me to send you some photos.     

Just my opinion:   if I owned your car I would not have the Z28 Rally Stripes painted on it.  For me it would lessen the value as I would have far less interest in purchasing it if it had the Rally Stripes as opposed to the '68 SS stripes that would have come on it from the factory. 

Welcome. As a Fellow 68 SSRS396 owner (Since 1983) I understand your inquiry. They ARE very difficult to authenticate. Esp from a laptop or phone. The Nice thing is there ARE many many indicators that can be inspected or documented that can provide a chain of evidence to proof various RPO's and feature(s) that would indicate a vehicles equipment. This is also easier if supported by as found or disassembled photos PRE restoration. The Bummer is the Eng and Trans situation in this case.  They & the associated stamps would be of great assistance. Post up a Bunch of Hi res photos, Rear stamping as suggested, trim tag (* Yes it will provide a clue depending on build date for some REQUIRE RPO for the SS) Suspensions, Engine, Subframe, Brake and Fuel lines, Firewall details,

The Funny thing IS really there are potentially More clues to "definitively authenticate " it as a Clone then a genuine 68 SS.

It us a Good thing they "Made a Bunch of 68 SS" that year, Guys how many, anyone got a Camaro White Book Handy.

If it had white interior I would have to have it. I have seen so many red or black cars I really enjoy something different.

I fully agree.  I have always liked white interiors, even though I've never had a car with a white interior.   I'm tired of black, gray, and even tan interiors;  give me gold, bright blue, and bright red, with the right exterior color of course. 

I like the look of the double white stripes on the tires. 

It's been 7 years now but when I was researching 1st gen Camaros to buy I ran across a '67 SS396 that was advertised as having a report from Jerry.  I contacted him and he provided me with a full report on the car.  I don't remember the price or fee he charged. 

I kind of like the 4 headlights look. 

You have to make sure you have a cat that is a great mouser, but when I had a mama cat and one of her offspring prowling my house and garage area outside they basically caught any rodents that came around.   Nothing like a mouser cat to keep the rodents under control.

Yes, I think of Pearl Harbor Day every Dec. 7th even though I wasn't even born yet when it happened.  My mother told me about it growing up.  My dad was in the Navy during WWII as was one of my uncles who was on the USS Enterprise that day heading toward Pearl from I think Guam.  They were late leaving Guam and were held up by weather, etc. otherwise they might have been at Pearl too on Dec. 7th. 
One of the last 2 survivors from the USS Arizona, Lou Conter, age 101, lives in the next town over from me.   I used to see him often before the COVID pandemic.

Bought my sheets today.   The woman that waited on me mentioned they are selling fast.  They are called pony cars by the Post Office, but they left out the Firebird and Cuda.
