that is the story i have always understood to be true. If these people can proved to be commiting fraud, they should sent to jail and prostuted!

Yes.  A almost all original car. It had the wrong rims, tires, radio, (with a vibrosonic unit!) shifter knob, mufflers.
also the air cleaner contacts the insulation. I tried to compare other BB Camaros but never could find a car still with the insulation. I have reached the conclusion that most owners removed them when the smog pump pully dug into the pad.                                                               VT

Ejam, one more thought. While you are working the fittings, with pressure on, try TAPPING on the manifold with a metal hammer to cause "ultrasonic" (fancy word!) vibrations. this sometimes will help corrosion or metal fusion to break loose. Don't give up or try to hurry. They will come off. good luck.

I purchased a 98% 68 396 in 1980 and the smog pump already dug into the insulation, otherwise it still fits perfect.

 What does the pink slip or the registration have as the VIN #? Other VIN # spots?

  My Two Cents, I have a 05C RS/SS the original grill was replaced in 1980. (Drunk chick backed into it) it still had the fadded silver paint on the grill, the replacement came from cormier chevrolet, but only in black. I tried to find a painted grill but could not. At the time the only other source was CLASSIC CAMARO (in Palm Springs back then) they only had GM-OEM  parts, but did not Know what i was talking about.  Some things never change.

how can I ID the correct bumper jack for a 05C-J543 1968 RS/SS 396?  base color? (black, grey or greenish) Leanth of tire iron? Proper load bracket? And is there any #'s or marks? I have many different styles from years of Hobbing and do not remember whitch belongs to my car. (For Data Base: 124378L340398, no ASTRO on windows, has Wood grain ash tray, D-90 mustache stripe, vented quarters. It is "U-2" Lemans blue/Black vinyl, "712" black standard int.) One oddity- It never had the trim around the dash, was this only a Deluxe Int. part? it look to be missing, but one was never mounted. If there is any info anybody needs from this car, or the Los Angeles area car Happenings i will be happy to help. vtfb68@sbcglobal.net.

 There is no way to document/prove dealer parts  were installed without ORIGINAL dealer paperwork with either the confirmed original owners name  or lic./VIN numbers. (Check paper stock, Ink/carbon marks if a lot of $$ is involved, Too many assholes out there....sorry) Thats why the 427 swap cars are so hard to find and document. close date codes do not prove anything.   
How long does "original dealer installed" hold water? Befor first owner? One Month? The documented 68 Dana from Hawaii was bought at cormier chevrolet in Long Beach, a year later sent to Dana Chevrolet in southgate (10 Miles) for the swap. This is the most documented Dana that I know of. Most are gone becuse they were used the way they were built to be used. Just my opinion. This is a great site ... thank's guys.

 Hi, Just found this site,  What is the story with 15 x 5 rally's, did they in fact come on early 67 Z's, And if so. what would the code be? same as big cars? I've been a F-body guy since the start. I grew up in Gardena Ca. (Ascot park) just 10 minutes from Lion's dragstrip. Pop's was a race fan.( We lived around the corner from Roland Leong, Sisters-baby sitted for Paul Jones and all the racers kids when the big races were at Ascot. Attended many Pre race  BBQ's at the Apartments. My dad always used to tell us these were the greatest drivers of the time. We were kids waiting for sodas. WHO COULD HAVE KNOWN.) I remember my at father at Lion's gushing over the new Camaro becuse it had not yet been released. We kids wanted them to have big tires, like the HAWAIIN. I still live here Torrance. The cruising/car show sceen around L.A. is growing like the 60's. It's good to see. Even now there are Cruising spots almost every night, Take your pick on Saturday mornings. I think there is a mistake in all factory production numbers. Proof: There is easly more than 20,000 69 Z's. Hundreds of 1970 topless Hemi Challangers, 1968 blue Yenko's, "R" code Shelbys, ect.. in Los Angeles alone. Ha Ha   Thank's
