I have lots of thoughts.

Checked our book here and show the same part number for both vehicles with Big Blocks. I hope this helps.

We set .026/.026 cold with roller tip rockers and have no problems. I idle the car at about 1000 rpm's and still stop pretty easy.

I 've used the 30 30 in my 64 vette since 72. I've always set it .026 with the Comp cams 1.52 roller tips. It will idle at 850 rpm with 9 to 10 inches of vacuum with the 400-- 6 to 7 inches of vacuum with a 350 and with a 327 about 5 to 6 inches of vacuum. This is with the dual quads. I hope this helps.

The good news about MSD is that it does not fail so you don't need to carry extra parts. The failure that does occur with them is due to incorrect installation and ancillary component selectioin. Done correctly they are bullet proof and extremely passive.

Unfortunately, having used MSD products from 1978, I have found them to have a very high failure rate. This is not only my findings, but dozens of other people that I've had to help who were stranded because of the 5 and 6xx boxes. I finally quit using MSD all together in the 90s. Sad but true.

Originality / Re: 041 Heads VS. 186s on a 302

Just a point of information on 041 vs 186 castings. Back in the 80s when I was big into head porting, I found the 041 to be a better and cleaner casting than the 186. I used ported 041s on my vette until last year. If you have a set of 041s they are a VERY GOOD casting.

My job as Senior Tech for a VERY large restroation company is made easier by John. His information is always spot on.  John is FIRST CLASS as the way.

Was the "trunk" facing side of the trunk divider or partition board, for a 69 with the folding rear seat option, black like the non-folding rear seat cars?

Does anyone have a pic of an original partition board from a folding seat car, and know where you can purchase correct reproductions?

When I restored my 69 during 1995 - 2000, unfortunately tossed my original because it was in bad shape.  I should have held on to it for reference.

Thanks!

I'd like to know this one too. I have been asked this more than once by our customers. I have some information, but it is vague.

Thanks again for the info you do remember.  Unfortunately the original owner does not remember the name of the next owner who drag raced the car.

The reason I remember that vehicle, is the fact it was so fast and no sponser. My Vette was running mid 13s and this guy was in the 12s. Pissed me off. It was a plain jane Z28 badged ---no spoilers or other markings.

I did finally break 12s at the 74 All Corvette Race at OCIR.

Fill it to the bottom of the fill hole and install the plug.

Just make sure the trans is level.

Sorry John I just had to add that, seen too many over and under filled Munices because they were not level on fill.

The 302 large-journal crank flange looks like the photo below.

both large AND small journal 3" cranks have a round with notch flywheel flange.
283 cranks are lighter than 302 cranks, 302 pistons are bigger and heaver.
to detail my post better:  283 cranks do not have a notch, are 360 degree round. 302 cranks have notch/ pistons are heaver.

Just to let you know, in the 80's, I came across "2" 283 cranks with the pie cut in the flange. They were both from NOVA 283s. Just a little information for you guys.

What I remember, that was a long time ago, was it struck me odd that a Z28 would run mid-low 12s. It had white Z28 strips and it stood was fairly high.
There we no other lettering or decals that I remember. It was just a VERY strong runner. I hope this helps.

The one I remember had the mag wheels and chrome rears. I remember it, because it ran -if I remember correctly- low 12s.
