Somewhere in the early 70s (I think 1972) Holley carbs went from a 3 digit date to a 4 digit date.  For a 4 digit date code, the first 3 characters represented the Julian date (1 through 366) and the last character represented the year of the decade.

3 digit date codes were prior to about 1972, and I believe the digits were for year, month, week.

The UX codes (July 68) on the quarter glass seem in line for a car built in September of 1968. 

The door glass does not seem to be original to me.

445 is questionable.  I would say the others are OK.

FWIW, most of the original paint ones that I remember on cars from the 70s and 80s seemed to have full or nearly full coverage.  The adhesion issue varied and if the car was ever driven in the winter with salt on the roads that seemed to make it worse. 

I remember a 69 Impala that an older lady owned.  She mainly drove it just on Sundays (no kidding) and never in the rain.  That was a very nice old original car with low miles.  Bellhousing on that car had full coverage.

I suspect that there was variation, depending on the person doing the job, that persons mood, day of the week, etc. etc.

Looks like there was a number out of order in the VIN posted.

OK, yes Jeff you are right.  B1 is the correct current replacement.  The B1 is not an original part.

The original vacuum advance pod is the MS 201 15.  The numbers 201 are from the last 3 of the Delco Remy part number - 1116201.  

The MS 201 15 is also correct for the 1111445 distributor.

Bob, I checked two of the 1111169 distributors that I have.  One has the B1 vacuum advance and the other has the MS 201 15.  The 1111445 has the B1.  I believe the B1 was used on most of the 396 engines in 67 and 68.

Those numbers don't sound familiar. How thick are they? Can you post a picture?

Are there any numbers stamped on the M21 on the main case, near the the joint between the main case and the tail housing?

Of the three 1111169 distributors that I have, all three have the 732 cam.  

I am pretty sure the 1111445 that I have also has the 732 cam.

I forgot, what was painted first?  The firewall black or the cowl white?
