Mild Modifications / 327 radiator
November 28, 2007, 12:26:36 AM
I have a 69 camaro with 327 that is 60 over. I have a 23 inch 3 core BB radiator in it now and it doesn't go over 160 with a 180 themostate. i know this is a hard one to guess at but how big of a difference would it make in switching to a 20 3/4 inch 3 core SB radiator. the 23 inch has a leak and 20 inch i can get for cheapier.

Maintenance / TH350 shifter
October 12, 2007, 12:57:51 PM
Has anyone ever had trouble adjusting the shift cable on a TH350 with the horseshoe shifter? Whats happening is the transmission is going thru all the grears ok. It's just not going back into park. You can reach under the car and push the level on the transmission forward into park.

Originality / cowl hood and spoilers
July 29, 2007, 08:53:52 PM
Is it possible for an LM1 to come with a cowl induction hood and front and rear spoilers from factory? Also did Dealers ever install the cowl induction hoods? What kinda of primed did the fractory use? Two other questions, how can you tell if a car had single or dual exhaust and how clean is the cut for the hole for a four speed shifter made by the factory.
I have a two inch hole below the wiper motor almost directly behind the valve cover on the driverside and there is a hole in the tunnel that is very clean on three side and looks like the metal was folded over. The car has the dash and colume setup for colume shift and it has the plate for a 3 speed which looks all to be orignnal.
this is the cowl tag:  st6912437nor195236bdy

General Discussion / great parts place
June 13, 2007, 12:00:16 AM
For any of you guys that live close to Illinois, there is a great place called Mac's new place in Springbay. He collects and restores camaro. He has a warehouse full of orignnals parts and a few cars. He sales, buys and trades. so nothing he has goes to waste. His place is like walking in to camaro heaven. I went there one time and he showed me what my car would have looked like from the factory. He had a 69 lemans blue with a white vinly top and ivory interior, and a 350 engine. It was great to see what it did look like and what it will look like again. He is the nicest car guy you could ever meet. I just thought i would mention him because he is a really kool guy and he is great help. If another needs orignnal parts he has everything you could think of fenders, doors, steering columes, etc... I mean everything. His shop number is 309-822-8768. just a tip for anyone in my neck of the woods.

Maintenance / loud whine
June 11, 2007, 10:11:18 PM
This is a weird problem ,back in feburary my transmission went out and i had it replace with a remaned. It's a TH350. Ever since i replace it i have had whine coming from the back of my 69 that can only be from inside the vehicle. it sounds like the whine an eletric fuel pumps make before its going to go out. i have had a few poeple look at it. Some say u joints, other's said rear axles. I had both front wheel bearing, both u joints, and the end axle rebuilt, its a 12 bolt with a open diff and 2:56 gear, and the whine is still there. has anyone ever heard of a whine coming from a transmission. its not low on fluid. someone said it might be coming from the rear still because im using 75-90 royal purple in it and it was the orignnal ring and pinion but its the same sound. you can only hear when its under load. the only change i can tell is at first it would start at speeds over 45 and now after i changed everything its starts at 35 or faster. if anyone knows anyone in the Peoria, Illinois that could help, i would really appreciate it.

Mild Modifications / HEI starter wires
May 06, 2007, 08:49:44 PM
I have a 69 camaro that has been converted to HEI. I brought a factory replacement harness from M&H eletric that they convertered for me. Now, the starter has the ignition wire and a 12 volt feed back wire for the coil. My question is, is the feedback wire a necessity. I was going to use a 94 Lt1 starter and it only has the ignition wire. any help.

Decoding/Numbers / 1969 LM1 could this be one
February 21, 2007, 11:42:22 PM
I have a 1969 camaro. Its VIN is 124379n56057. I've decoded its cowl tag. It was LeMans Blue with ivory standard interior and a parcemnt vinal top. It built in the second week of december.  It still has the orignnal rear end which a 12 bolt with a 2:56 ring gear and multi-leaf springs. Im guessing it was a 350 v-8 car because it has the duel fuel lines and it was a small block car. It was 3 speed auto with colume shift. It had four wheel non power drum brakes.  I just wanted to know is there a way to find out if it was one of these cars. I don't have a build sheet but everything I have points that way. Any help
