The car does have multi-leaf rear, PS with valve on sub frame - I am not sure about the # of fuel lines, or the rear, (althoughI beleive it is a 10 bolt...not sure reight now).  Does this info tell you anything?  Does an SS need all the options you posted?

Similar too "abad69"'s post I have the same question.  I recently purchased a Van Nuys dover white/ med red interior/wjite top convertible that has SS emblems on it.  The block has been replaced.  My question is if it is an SS car or a clone?   Vin tag below...although I didn't buy it expecting the SS authenticity...just expecting family enjoyment.

The fact that the paint continues over the edge of the trunk lid indicates that the car originally did not have the rear spoiler - (added by the dealer).  Also the emblem holes would be under the top of the dealer installed spoiler. (The emblem hole mounts were adjusted up the trunk lid for factory installed rear spoilers)  Could the car have had early rear body damage and the previous owner had it repaired.  At that time they may have installed the rear spoiler.  The body shop might have repainted the car this way...just my conspiracy theory.

Hey guys, Thanks so far for all the help in my resto work.  I have an off the wall question here - I have a 5 year old daughter that is still in a car seat, (I can't believe I am asking this), but am interested in installing a rear shoulder belt in my convertible so my wife will be happy and my daughter safe with the top down.  Any ideas on where to locate this belt, (I have seen pics of this shoulder belt but can't locate them anywhere),  and where to attach the anchor for the belt.  Thanks again for the help.

Thanks guys!  Any other crate motors you would recommend other than the ZZ4 - keep in mind my budget...

hotrod68 - what would/should I be looking at cost-wise for a turn-key ZZ4.  Could I transfer the cowl induction parts?  (as you can tell - engines are not my forte).

I just bought my first 69 'vert and the engine numbers come back as an '83 350 out of a truck.  It runs rough and doesn't look that good, (all the paint has flaked off).  The body paint is excellent and the interior in great shape.  I am considering a new engine...crate or rebuild....

My intention is for this to be a weekend driver, (fun for the family), but don't want to be embarrased when I raise the hood up for some friends. 

Any suggestions?  I have heard the ZZ4 idea before and this 350/290 hp seems like a fair balance of power with price...thoughts?

Please keep in mind it took me 3 years to talk my wife into letting me buy this 69...although the price was worth every penny when I told my 5 year old daughter this would be her car one day!

how would I know if it originally had stripes and what color they were...(fender stripes, z striped or hood band)?  This is a VN car.

My Cowl tag lists 50 A where the exterior paint is listed.  I know 50 decodes to Dover White, but what is the A...this is a convertible 69.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.
