General Discussion / Value of 67
December 02, 2006, 12:41:42 PM
There is a 67 that I may be interested in and could use some input on value. I looked at the car briefly several years ago and remember it as a very nice restoration. It is supposed to be a RS SS. It is a convertable. 350 4 speed. Assuming it is in top condition and all numbers checked out. What would a ball park value be on this car?
   Thanks Pat

Restoration / Ralley Wheel Paint
November 28, 2006, 08:34:44 PM
I need a paint code or manufactures number for Argent silver as was used on ralley wheels. I am having some painting done and need a number to give to my painter. Any major paint suppliers number should do as they can cross ref.

Originality / Re: stripe question
August 03, 2006, 10:27:21 PM
My garnet red Z-28 has a - - paint code and white stripes. I am told it was special order with white instead of black stripes. I have no build sheet to confirm.                     Pat

Have to throw my two cents worth in here. In 1972 I purchased a 1969 Z-28 with 50,000 miles on it. The motor needed freshinging so I pulled it down, the pistons had full floating pins. In 1975 I purchased my second 1969 Z-28 with 66,000 miles on it. When it was pulled down for rebuild it also had full floating pins. I assumed with all I had read about 1969 Z-28's being produced with full floating pins, that these two cars came from the factory so equiped. But it is possible that both these engines were torn down before I bought the cars and full floating piston pins installed. Could have been a full foating pin legend conspirousy.

I have an original NOS chambered system on my car. With Hooker super competition headers. It is fairly loud on acceleration but no cackling when cruising. Maybe the headers tone it down or the Gardiner is not exactly the same. It is the best sounding car I've ever driven

My son has a 67 standard Camaro with power. I have a 69Z with manual. To me the 67 power is too effortless, I prefer the manual on my 69. But I only put about 200 miles a year on my 69. When I was 20 and it was my daily driver the steering effort didn't bother me at all, now that I'm 51 it may, if I drove it more.  My 73Z has what I believe Chevrolet refered to as variable ratio power and to me it has a better feel of the road.        Hope this helps Pat

My manifold has a fitting boss in the left front corner,on the top plate. I conected both my booster and PVC there. Do you know what the casting date is on your system?         Pat

Restoration / Re: 1969 Z-28 Tires
July 09, 2006, 04:20:32 PM
Thanks for the reply John. My spare is an E-70 I didn't look at it close enough. Years ago when I put the car back together all I could get were NOS E-60's and I've ruined one. You are right about the drivability of this tire, seems to want to follow every seam in the road. I've considered a radial what do you have on your car?    Pat

Restoration / 1969 Z-28 Tires
July 08, 2006, 08:07:39 PM
I was looking to purchase a new set of polyglass tires for my 12C 1969 Z-28. My spare I believe is original and it is a F70-15 Good-Year. The tire size is not printed in raised white letters on the side. I was looking at the Kelsey tire web site and it appears that their tire has the size in raised white letters. Does anyone have any experiance or input on their replacement tires?

What are you running for fuel in your crossram cars? I had fits with mine until I fed it good gas. Never will have low end but idles and runs great. Pat

Wasn't sure of the spelling. The car has 16,900 miles total I didn't drive it much after the first couple of years. Even at 18 years old I wasn't thrilled about the "fix", on the pistons.  But I'm glad I still have the original block!

In 1973 bought had a new Z-28 that had too much piston clearance. Slapped bad when cold. The dealer pulled pistons, and upon inspection they were indeed out of spec. The zone rep told them to knerlize(spelling?) the skirts of the pistons.
I screemed like hell becuase I wanted a new fitted block. They refused.
Today the car has 16900 miles on it I still own it and I"m real happy to have the original block still in the car.
          Hope this helps Pat

What you would have would be an over bored 305. If you really wanted to do this you should look to see if someone makes that piston in the 307 bore size. 307 was 3.875 bore 3.25 stroke. 305 was 3.736 bore 3.48 stroke. Hope this helps.
