I have the build sheet for my 73 Camaro and under ALT it says DE. I assume the codes were to pull the right part at the factory. Others here will know for sure

General Discussion / Re: CE block
March 29, 2008, 11:53:03 AM
I was under the impression that CE blocks were only installed in a warrenty situation. Did dealers also install them as replacements? I'm assuming the freezing up wuold not be warrenty. Pat

General Discussion / Collector's Car Insurance
February 15, 2008, 03:57:35 PM
I know there has been discussion on this before, but I just recieved my renewel and wanted some opinions on the price and coverage. The policy is with American Collectors Insuranse Inc.
Two cars with 300,000 liability and $300,000 uninsured motorist.
One car has a value of $51,500, the other $26,500, for collision and comprehensive.
The declaration page states "AGREED VALUE"
The premium is $413 per year. How does this measure up with the rest of the carriers?
    Thanks Pat

I'm just going from memory here, but I think an early around 75 Monte Carlo"s and probably others of that vintage had a dash switch. I believe it had a slide control with a twist knod to control delay. Could be mistaken it's been a few years

I have run a crossram on my car since 1983. It has tubing headers, 140 cam and 4.10 gears. I totally agree that the 1/4 mile performance and street drivability are not as good as the single four set-up. But,there is something about opening all eight barrels at 4000 RPM in low gear and winding it through the gears. It pulls pretty hard up there. I was able to get it to idle at 900 RPM, this combo seems to like a little race gas mixed with super unleaded. My opinion on the cross-ram may be slanted due to the fact I have only put 4000 miles on the car in the last 25 years and I paid $600.00 dollars for the set-up in 1976. If I drove alot I would put the single four back on. But for an occasional summer driver I love it.

Mild Modifications / Re: MOTOR MOUNT STRAPS
November 18, 2007, 03:29:50 PM
I know the recall was in place in 1972, for the 1969 Z-28's. It would be hard to believe that the mounts would be rotted away by that time. I would think it would be a problem with too many hard leaves breaking the mount. GM was known to change the mounts to interlocking style, if tubing headers had been installed, and the kit would not fit around the exhuast.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: JL-8 SURVIVORS

Thanks for the info. Does it follow then that there are very few of the actual production rears out there? Should be easy to spot a clone

I have heard that the over the counter JL-8 rears were different from the production rears. Anyone have info on this?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Warranty Engines

Any ideas as to why the 33 on the end of the pad stamping is so out of place on the E-Bay CE block referred to by Paul?

Were all Muncie's stamped with VIN's? Or just Z-28s

I would call MSD. Their tech dept is very helpful. We installed a 6A on my son's 67 with a repo factory tach, hooked it up to the tach output on the box and it works fine.
Hope this helps Pat

General Discussion / Re: Value of 67

Color is Red Black top and interior. I understand the car would need aa complete decode. I just wanted a value assuming all checks out right.
Thanks for the input Pat
