Maintenance / Re: Fuel / Octane Rating

The one thing to keep in mind is that there are different formula's of gas through out the country. I leave in the Chicago area, and I've read that our gas is different from other parts of the country do to the air pollution.

I know my 302 runs a ton better on racing fuel than on pump gas.  The car idles better, and the throttle response is better.  ;D

Originality / ZL1 Cowl Induction Hood
February 11, 2006, 08:32:46 PM
I was reading my Oct 68 Motor Trend and noticed that their article on the 69 Chevy's showed pictures of the 69Z with a cowl induction hood.  The article refered to the hood as a "proterbant plenum  chamber" along the top of the hood.

My understanding of magazines, esp back then is that the pics and articles were written weeks in advance.

If the ZL1 ducted hood was already talked about in the Oct 68 Motor Trend, why did it take until Dec 68 to apear as an option?

Restoration / Package Tray / Trunk Divider
February 05, 2006, 04:41:27 PM
I'm installing both items and need to know the following,

Does the trunk divider go on the passenger side?  If so, does the divider get installed 1st and then the package tray?  Does the jute backing go on the trunk side of the divider?

Thanks

Kurt, I guess I muddied the waters when I tossed in the Z-28 part.

My question was on the timing of the early trim vs the into of the late tag on Norwood cars.

By most accounts, my 11A car should have an early trim tag, but yet I have a late tag. From what Ive read ithe late trim tag was introduced the last week in November 68.  So this is just one of the unique aspects of car building in the 60's?

Would it be a suprise that the partial VIN is stamped down by the oill filter? I understand this was not done until Jan 69

Also, do you have any listing on my VIN? (N535006)

I've had for 10 years what I think is a 69Z.  There are several reason why I think that I do even though I don't have documentation.   I don't believe the trim tag was switched.

According to several resources, my car (11A (68) build date) should have an early trim plate.  But yet it looks like I have a late trim plate.  N535006

Kurt any thoughts?
