Originality / Re: Misc markings and labels
December 23, 2023, 07:20:13 AM
I found similar markings on my 15,000 mile car.  Mine had 2 inspection tags on the heater box and had similar grease pencil number.  My understanding is the handwritten number is an assembly sequence number.  Mine had a "3" and I found the same "3" on top off my gas tank.  I did not find any yellow tape.  Steering column and gauge cluster tags are the "norm" for identifying applications for those components.
Sounds like you have a really cool Z - post some pics!

no, plain hole.  Appears to be punched and has the same finish as the surface.  Definitely doesn't look like anything has ever been in there.  Here's a closer pic.

Here's a pic of the passenger seat from my car, untouched original 09D of 69.

Agree, pics would help. Ive been watching this thread trying to figure out what you all were looking at.  I've got my 15,000 mile original seats out of the car right now so could take a look and shoot photos to add to this thread.  09D late car.

Thanks William.  So would a black 69 Camaro built after January have "--" on the trim tag?

Since everyone's default is to assume it's fake, please evaluate this trim tag and provide me your thoughts.  Car is non-original engine, so no validation hope there.

Looks great!  I always appreciate the work people go through to make things right.  It might be the photo angle....are your relief cuts for the wheel housing slits or V's?  Should be V's.

Once the spoiler became standard equipment on Z28's in April of 1969, did they drop the D80 designation on the trim tag?  I'm looking at an 04C Burgundy Z with spoilers - no D80 on the trim tag, just X33.

Gotta love California cars.....this car is the first time I can say that I like the dark green interior - just seems to work well with Champagne - pretty car!
