General Discussion / 69 Camaro Suspension Question
December 20, 2013, 04:54:16 PM
My Z has the original springs  which are beginning to sag just a bit on the rear drivers side.  Can someone recommend a vendor where I can get the  front coil and rear leaf springs  that will produce the proper ride height. Thanks

Decoding/Numbers / 69 Windshield decoding
July 08, 2012, 07:18:10 PM
I noticed all glass on my 69 Camaro has the Soft Ray LOE markings except for the windshield which has the following:

Soft Ray PPG marking (in place of the LOE) with A-S1, 1-69 DOT 18 M23. Would this possibly be a date correct replacment?

Thanks

Originality / 69 Z Alternator
June 28, 2012, 05:15:07 PM
Were alternators with the number 1100834 used on 69 Z-28 Camaros? I'm not seeing that number in Jerry's book.

Maintenance / Battery Drain Problem
June 21, 2012, 08:34:12 PM
I'm having a battery drain issue and was wondering if there were any older strings on troubleshooting this particular problem?

Situation:
The the battery runs down after a two day sit. The alternator seems to charge after the initial jump indicating 14.7 volts across the battery terminals and then levels off at 12.7 volts. With the engine off - If I leave the battery (+) cable disconnected the charge stays or if I disconnect the Voltage regulator the charge also remains but if I reconnect them I lose the charge. I also noticed when I connect the (+) terminal in the dark there is a slight spark which may be the drain....or is that normal???

I've even tried disconnecting the fuse circuits one at a time to try to isolate the problem but no success.

Any suggestions would much appreciated! (The car is a 69 Z with a stock ignition system and orignal wiring that seems to be visually in VG condition)

Thanks!

General Discussion / M-22 Production Question
May 04, 2012, 09:27:06 PM
I was wondering if there were any total production stats for 69 Z-28 Camaros with M-22 transmissions?
(The M-22 was a fairly expensive option for 1969 so I'm assuming the numbers were low)

General Discussion / Chambered Exhaust Option - 69 Z
March 27, 2012, 09:36:43 PM
I have a 69 Z with a build date of 05A with the transverse muffler system. I'm considering switching to a gardner chambered exhaust system and was wondering if the car's build date was within the correct factory timeline for cars installed with that option? Can someone provide the actual date when the chambered exhaust option became available on the 69Z?

Thanks

General Discussion / Gasoline Additives
September 04, 2011, 02:54:25 AM
Are any of you DZ owners running fuel additives for todays unleaded gasoline...or is that a only concern that has a long term effect on the valve train? If so, what brand do you recommend?

General Discussion / 69 Z D-80 Option ??
August 26, 2011, 12:04:22 PM
I've seen cowl tags stamped with the D80 RPO and many tags without the stamp. CRG info states front and rear spoilers were optional on early/mid 69 Camaros and standard on late models. Does that mean all the (early or late) Camaros equipped with factory installed spoliers had the D80 stamping and all others w/o the stamped tag may have had them installed by the dealer?

Hey guys, this may or may not have been covered before but is there any information on the CRG site or from previous threads that define the correct front and rear stripe locations and dimensions for repainting purposes? I'm sure Marty will know.... :-)

Any Vendor recommendations for stripe templates?

Many thanks!

General Discussion / CRG Database
August 07, 2011, 07:26:47 AM
I've notice a Camaro database mentioned in a few CRG discussions. Does CRG maintain a database? If so, how would a Camaro owner go about adding a new entry?

I'm looking to upgrade the valve train components on my 302 which is currently all stock with the 373 rear gears. As a cam upgrade I'm considering the Competition Cams XE284H (recommended by a local engine builder) and a Pete Jackson timing gear drive. Any camming suggestions or comments on keeping the solid lifter vs hydraulic.... other than authencity would be much appreciated?

Specs:
240 deg duration - 507" lift intake
246 deg duration - 510 lift exhaust

I recently purchased a documented 69Z with the original M-22 trans. Is there any production number data available on the CRG website for total number of 69 camaros equipped with the factory installed M-22? I was told at a car show that production number was approximately 2100.... but would like to confirm.

Thanks

Typically speaking, how often is valve lash adjustment required for the solid lifter DZ motor?
I've adjusted hydraulic valves before but never solid lifters.....I would think they are similar. Any recommended tech procedures out there on this topic?

BTW: I've read it's best to set them cold at .026"/.026" for a more stable idle, better sound, and improved throttle response. Any comments?

General Discussion / 69 Z Ignition Upgrade
May 23, 2011, 06:33:15 AM
I'm considering upgrading the stock ignition system on my 69 Z to a maintenance free style distributor. A question for you mechanic techies ...is that just a matter of removing the old "points type" and dropping in the new magnetic pick up distributor?

thanks!

General Discussion / 69 DZ Carb Date Code
April 25, 2011, 02:00:34 AM
hello all, I'm new to the discussion group and I'm also in the process of purchasing a 69 Z, so I'm trying to decode authenticity the numbers for the car. Looking at the three digit code it seems this is a 68 year model carb, would I be correct? Carb data below:
