Originality / 69 Z28 coil bracket- Notched?
January 09, 2011, 11:35:32 AM
Gentlemen,
I purchased a 69 Z28 Original ignition coil bracket which has the correct angle to clear the cowl induction air cleaner. My question is, does the coil bracket suppose to have a notch on the top side? My bracket is a soild piece without this notch. Do i have the correct one? According to one person on ebay who is selling one with the notch, this persons claims if this coil bracket isnt notched it can cause ignition problems. I never heard of this, was the notched bracket use on BB Cars only? I am under the impression that the 69 Z28 Coil Bracket wasnt notched, please help me out. Thank You.

Gentlemen i have a pair of used original 1969 Z28 Front calipers. The casting numbers on both are 5483633 but are not identified as Left or Right on the castings. Is this normal, did these factory calipers have a L for Left or R for Right cast into them. Or am i alright here with no identifications at all?

Originality / 69 Z28 Distributor Hold Down clamp

Gentlemen i have a question about my original brake master cylinder on my 69 Z28. When i bought this used Z28 it came with no power brake booster but has a original master cyliner casting number 5468309 which is a correct Z28 piece.  This car has front disc brakes. Whats going on here, why no power brake booster. Did some Z28s not have these installed with the front disc brake setup? All the brake lines going to the master cylinder are original and never have been changed or modified. Could this car have been a drum brake unit and someone may have installed these disc brakes? My Z28 is currently setup for drag racing. Could have someone removed this power brake booster because of low vaccum on the drag engine and wouldnt operate the booster correctly? I am puzzled here. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Where did Chevy put the part number on BB Oil Pumps. Was it cast in the bottom plate? I am trying to locate a oil pump and the person said just because the numbers are cast in the housing and plate doesnt mean thats the pump number. If so how did Chevy identify the oil pump then? Help.

Did Chevy paint the L-88 Aluminum head orange from the factory? I saw pics from cars that had these heads painted. If so was it a thing that they disguised by painting them, or just something a owner of the car did? I have an old pic of Grump Jenkins 67 Camaro SS that he raced in i believe in stock eliminator and it showed the engine and the head were painted orange. Its the 396-375 engine, i am thinking its the iron heads no doubt, but again did he swap these heads out in favor of the 67 L-88 heads? Whats your take guys, ever heard of the factory Aluminum heads painted orange?

Guys i have a pair of 842 heads. One head has a cast date of 69. The other head has no cast date, i am thinking this head is a service replacement. The only numbers i could find on this head are 5625, the other one is 4025, what do these numbers stand for? Is this some kind of a cast number? Or is it a replacement number they used?
