General Discussion / Canadian Camaro
October 08, 2023, 01:47:14 PM
This person claims CRG has a report on his car stating his 69 was shipped to Canada new without a motor or tranny.

The thread is not closed. The OP in question wrote that title, and he keeps changing the title many times to add to confusion.

Garage Talk / R.I.P. Don Scinto

Left this world doing what he loved in his eighties. Banging a stick in his 67 Camaro at Lebanon Valley Dragway.

Garage Talk / This hobby is dying
June 05, 2022, 09:42:04 AM
My friend is at Ford Carlisle with his survivor lightweight 62 Galaxie. His is a featured car and inside. He said there are hundreds of Ford Focuses on display, and nearly a thousand late model Mustangs with typical fart pipes. There is a retired 80 year old race car driver there signing autographs who said old cars are pieces of garbage and new cars with all the computers are much better.

Garage Talk / Muscle Car Review-Not a Camaro
December 17, 2016, 08:13:20 PM
Not a Camaro but Muscle Car Review chose this car of a close friend for an article.  This was chosen for a write-up over his real 10-10 69 Z/28, a survivor 440 Six Pack Shaker Hood Challenger, and a survivor 340 Shaker Hood Cuda. Those are just three of dozens. I'm doing a rotisserie resto on an all original, build sheet, black 70 SS El Camino for him, and an original 70 442 is just getting frame on bodywork and paint. I like the fact that he actually drives his cars, and will do so after a nut and bolt resto on the Camino. Getting caught in the rain or driving down a dirt road is not an issue if the situation arises. The Road Runner was a pleasant surprise to the author as it represents the era differently than all the trailer queens out there. I hand lettered the decklid years ago and it was partially buffed off to match the patina of the car. I happen to like the body styles, lines and graphics of Mopars.

I came across this long ago and was not surprised that the magazine and the author have no hands-on experience in the collision and restoration industries: http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/additional-tech/camp-1006-windshield-installation/

If it is a magazine it must be true. Numerous inaccuracies are within this article.

Restoration / Pot metal chrome services / taillights
January 28, 2016, 04:13:52 PM
I'm looking for recent info on the best platers to do a pair of 67 taillight bezels. Tri-City told me about S&H Plating and Advanced Plating. I'm aware that CHQ makes respectable repro bezels but that is not what the customer wants. Thanks.

Originality / Big Block Dipstick
November 21, 2010, 12:24:23 PM
This E-bay arched tube is unlike the straight tubes I have, part#3928901. Is this E-bay assembly for a truck or some other application?

Originality / Big Block dipstick
February 23, 2010, 08:33:34 PM
It's been stated in past threads that original BB dipsticks don't have a part number or oil specifications on the blade - all they have are the full and add marks and "Engine Oil M". Please verify that this is origional or just an OTC replacement. It has a yellow tip and no part number. What is the 6041?
Sorry about the pic size. Have not posted small pictures in a while. Can't remember how to just post a link and not a billboard.

Limited 69 knowledge. OEM or aftermarket? I have another, same bolt pattern without #s but the interlocks are formed differently. Thank you.

General Discussion / Radius Rod Effectiveness
April 19, 2009, 09:06:21 AM
Is a 67 radius rod effective enough to warrant it's addition? I have come across one and would prefer it to traction bars. I have multis only now.

Decoding/Numbers / 67-8 filler neck shield
November 03, 2008, 12:35:15 PM
What significance do the #'s stamped on the shield have? They are as follows and one is not entirely easy to read and the other can be inverted to read two ways:  1.)  N25?
                                                                                        2.)  6H or H9

General Discussion / Gratitude
October 31, 2008, 06:15:20 PM
This is to extend a large measure of gratitude to John Z. I have read his data and papers written on the subject of timing and vacuum advance. With his consultation, his VA Can recommendations and tuning parameters, I have greatly improve performance.
I post this on open forum not for the regulars who are aware of John's knowledge, but for those who are new and to value his advice. Acquisition of his knowledge in past posts and in the future is an understated asset.
Thanks again John. Today's ride with the update was exhilarating.

Decoding/Numbers / Smog Pump Check Valve
September 05, 2008, 01:45:14 PM
I have two new GM check valves (GM #22048212) but they don't look exactly like the one's offered by the venders. Are they incorrect for Camaro application?
I can post a pic if required. Thank you.

Restoration / A-Arm Shafts
August 17, 2008, 03:37:50 PM
 Afternoon,
I've had a pair of new control arm shafts for 22 years. Do they have value for a correct restoration of a valuable car or are they just over the counter replacements?  My Jane cars don't justify using correct parts that belong on a 50k or higher car.

    Casting #381904 GM 40
Thank you

General Discussion / rust conversion
August 15, 2008, 01:01:28 PM
Hi, I looked back through posts and used different keywords in the search engine but I cant find info.
Somebody recommended a cleaning/rust converting detailing product with before and after pics of an engine    (Not a chevy engine)

It was a  base model 69 survivor that the gentleman posted. Thank you, Scott

Mild Modifications / Intake Manifold
August 06, 2008, 09:41:36 PM
I have a 70 LT-1 intake(3972110 dated 10/20/69) on my 67 that I believe deserves a proper home. I humble myself by saying performance upgrades are not the area which my knowledge lies. My driveline specs are as follows: 67 327, .010 over, stock pistons, 63 vette heads, mild cam ( can't locate specs) stock dist. ( switched vacuum as John Z. suggested ), stock exhaust manifolds, Holley Street Avenger 670CFM ( should be 570 ), 2 1/2" Flowmaster w/ crossflow muffler, M-21, 3.08 posi(which will be changed to 3.55's or at least 3.31's.)  I know I should run a dual plane and is the popular Air Gap manifold a good substitute? I also have an older Edelbrock Performer but I don't like the fact it is dual duty Holley/Quadrajet. I drive my car, rarely beat it, cruise the back country roads. Or should I just run the Snowflake? Thank you, Scott
