General Discussion / palomino convertible
March 07, 2010, 07:47:40 AM
Just finished a full restoation on my ash gold L48 rs-ss and I was looking for another project as just a fun driver and came across a 68 convertible 327 that needs work. Well, I bought it. Turns out it had the original 327 and drivetrain, deluxe houndstooth, and the paint code was "T" palomino ivory. I know it was a rare color, yet alone bein in a drop top. Now I am at a crossroads of doing another full restoration to it or making it a toy. just wanted to get some opinions.
Thanks

Originality / heater hoses
August 27, 2009, 07:55:52 PM
Anyone know the correct original heater hose style for a 68 camaro?  I was told the ribbed but I thought they were only used for 69 and up. Or would either GM or ribbed style be acceptable?

Originality / std. to repo fenders
August 10, 2009, 06:23:35 AM
I have a set of 68 NOS GM fenders, or, as I beileve. How can you tell the difference from GM to the repos. When I bought these, he told me they were GM but the e-coat was stripped off on the inside, NO STICKER. He planed on stripping both sides but stopped after he did the inside. The hood hinge nuts are T style, they weigh 29 pounds without extensions, each inner frame support has a # stamped in it Right is: 38, Left is: 42. The stampings and folds are tight and crisp and they are not drilled for emblems yet. I am going to try to sell these and want to make sure they are what they are.

Getting ready to buy break lines and I am on the fence, I am going to show the car when done. Just wanted to see what you guys think.

General Discussion / fold down brackets
January 14, 2009, 06:40:10 AM
Anyone have any pics on the brackets, factory installed,  for the fold down rear seat 68-9? I am installing one for a buddy in a 68,  and it came from a 68, seems that the passenger side is out from the floor 1/2 - 3/4 of a inch to where it should be.  I do not know if this was for the change in the shock mount? But when I put the pass. side bracket tight and tack it in the seat back is not even with the package tray. 1/2 inch driver side, 1 inch pass. Also, anyone know the factory height the seat shoud finish above the tray?
Thanks for any help!
Thanks

Originality / ss leaf spring color
October 30, 2008, 04:54:39 AM
I am getting ready to have my original 68, 5 leaf, SS rear springs,  sandblasted so I can re-paint them.  They have the 1 x 1 1/2 dimple at the end of each spring and I was wondering what color they originally were. I took them apart and in between the leafs they were painted semi gloss not the gray or natural like I normally see.  Also they were not held together with 3 rivited bands  but with 3 crimped bands, like you see in shipping.

General Discussion / Goodmark SS Hood
October 12, 2008, 07:41:03 PM
I am in the market for a good stock ss hood and heard the quality of the goodmark hood is great.  A dealer told me side by side he could not tell the difference. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with a goodmark SS hood and if there was a noticable difference. I know for the price it is tempting to try!
