General Discussion / Now the horn doesn't work.
October 24, 2019, 01:33:00 PM
:-\   I replaced all the locks on my '69 because my keys were stolen when my house was broken into.  Now my horn doesn't work.  What did I do wrong?  I don't remember seeing a loose wire in the column.

General Discussion / Cleaning a CD player head
September 16, 2019, 10:13:37 PM
Have any of you had to clean a CD player head.  I have a 10 disc player in the trunk of my '69.  The sound has been distorted the last few days.  I think its because the player head needs to be cleaned.  Have any of you gotten involved in doing this with good results?  Thanks Fred.

Originality / Endura bumper guards?
July 17, 2019, 07:24:05 PM
I don't think I've ever seen a Z/28 with front bumper guards when it came with the eudura bumper option.  Wouldn't guards have been required because of the bumper height mandate for the Z/28's?

Has anyone added a couple of more inches of extention to the available available seat extenders?  I would like to get at least another 2 inches of rear travel out of mine so it would be easier to get in and out of the car.

Any ideas or leads would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks,  Dave (Fred Mertz)

Or were they part of the X33 trim package?

General Discussion / My horn doesn't work.
March 23, 2019, 08:41:06 PM
A couple of years ago my home was broken into and my Camaro's keys were stolen.  I installed a new lock set including the ignition tumbler.  Since then my horn has not worked.  I've had the column apart a couple of times trying to solve this issue.  At this time I'm not seeing a loose wire that looks related to the ignition switch.

I could use some pointers (ideas) on what has happened.  And how to fix.  Help !!

I have a Moser 12 bolt rear axle assy.  The 4 bolt flange on these housing are thicker than a GM original housing were the caliper bracket would mount.  The difference is that the caliper bracket will not the caliper to center over the rotor.  I got the rear brakes to work by grinding almost all the pad material off the outside brake pad.  This allowed the caliper to center over the rotor.  Now I can't get any adjustment on the e-brake cable.  The cable is as tight as it will go.

There is not enough material to modify the caliper bracket.

Suggestions?  Help please !

Originality / Which seatbelt buckle is correct?
February 15, 2019, 08:45:51 PM
My '69 has ivory std. interior.  The front seats both have 2 seat belt buckles for each seat.  One is black plastic, the other is a little smaller and chrome.  I'm guessing one is for the shoulder harness and the other is for the lap belt.  They interchange.  Which one was intended to be used with the shoulder belt?

General Discussion / Center Dash Clock
October 18, 2018, 09:20:27 PM
I see cars with a center console that includes gauges, but no clock in the dash cluster.  I thought the clock came with the console gauge package.  Am I wrong, or was just the console gauges added to a non gauges car?

Maintenance / "Flickering" speedo needle
July 10, 2016, 11:57:03 PM
I've been having this problem for quite some time.  I have replaced the cable and the driven gear.  I also pulled  the core out of the new cable and lubed it with white lithium grease.

It there a way to lube the speedo itself?  What would I used if it can be lubed?

It's a '69 Camaro.  Thanks, Dave

The speedo is an OER repo unit.

I just got my NCRS report.  My '69 was originally sold by Ray's Chevrolet Inc. in Rigby, ID.  Today Rigby has only about 3500 population.  In '69 it must have no more than a stop sign.  Rigby is a suburb of Idaho Falls.  Any more information on Rigby would be great.  Thanks  Dave

Restoration / What else do I need to change?
July 14, 2015, 04:15:09 PM
I've started to collect pieces to return my "711" interior back to it's original "727".  The previous owner had everything that was white dyed black.  My question is:  Besides the seats and the door panels what needs to be white/ivory?

Thanks, Dave.

Restoration / Wheel weight removal tool
April 11, 2015, 08:35:07 PM
I'm going to be replacing the TT2's on my Camaro with a set of used rally wheels.  I need to remove the old wheel weights before I start painting.  Can someone lead me to a "wheel weight removal tool" source?

Thanks,  Dave

Restoration / What clip is being used for carb linkage.
February 23, 2015, 07:06:12 PM
I have a '69 with a 4053 carb and the 2 piece throttle rod that is 1/4" with a groove around it. What clip is being used to hold the linkage to the carb?  I'm having trouble finding something locally.

Thanks,  Dave

I suspect this cap is no longer correct for a '69.  A '69 gas cap should be "vented".   The caps I've been getting are in AC Delco boxes and use GM#3931449.  The last 3 caps I have gotten are not actually vented causing the needle and seat to seep. This causes a gas smell to build up the my garage after driving my car.  I have to remove the gas cap to relieve the back pressure.

These caps are marked "Vented" but are in fact "Non Vented caps"   The non-vented caps appear to be of the same construction.

Where can I get a correct gas cap?  My local dealerships don't stock the caps any longer but can order them, but they are not correct.

Ideas please.  I have been able to find good caps in the past but not lately.  Dave

General Discussion / Viewing attachments

When viewing most posts on this forum when an attachment is mentioned I see no way to open said attachment.  I see no link attached in most cases.

Where is the prompt to view these attachments?
