General Discussion / Should not ask here but…..
August 15, 2024, 08:12:24 PM
I am not having luck even getting into the 4 gen sites to ask this question. Hopefully someone knows the answer. I have 30 yr anniversary 97 SS convertible. Used to have a z28 with the Same issue.
When you pop the trunk, should the lift cylinders be strong enough to lift the trunk up and not immediately lock back. If so, mine are shot. Doesn't appear that they are available from GM anymore.
Is there a replacement cylinder that is strong enough to get lid up after popping??
Thx

General Discussion / 69 ssrs 396 w ac front springs
July 17, 2023, 11:45:37 PM
Sure this has been asked and answered many times but can't seem to locate what I need.
Would like to put in new front coil springs. Afraid that whatever I order will make the car look like a lift kit was installed. Has anyone with a similar car bought aftermarket springs that were the correct dimension and strength to give the correct height? According to the charts a 69 camaro 396 HA, HB and HG spring was the same part number. 181 lbs and up. Why give it different I D numbers?
Thx in advance

General Discussion / Engine compartment wiring
February 25, 2023, 04:24:47 PM
Too many years, so many wires.......
I have 396, turbo 400 with AC
Anyone have a picture of
1. Where to route the compartment wiring...above wiper motor or below.
2. How the kickdown wiring ties into the wiper motor
3. Finally where does the thick pink wire go with female connector

Thank you

Trying to get engine back in camaro. I had AC fan and wipers not working. After a bit of investigating, it appears that the firewall harness was bad.
I replaced it and all is now good! However, In poking and probing inside the car I must have pulled a brown wire out of its home.
Was hoping someone has a harness they can look at and let me know where the brown wire in the attached picture should be plugged into.
If you can send a matching picture that would be great.
Thanks in advance

General Discussion / 69 396 driveshaft markings
March 01, 2020, 04:20:23 PM
I did a search and only found one reference to driveshaft identification markings for a 69 396 driveshaft.

"I have a photo of a TH-400 car showing Orange,(Front) Green,(middle) and white (rear)."

Can anyone confirm that this is indeed correct or point me to an article or publication that does?

Thx

General Discussion / big block lift brackets.

Posted this under originality with no responses, so thought I would try here. Thx for your help if you can.

I see this was discussed back in 2016 but with seemingly no final conclusions. Does anyone have a pic of the original set up for the L35? Looking at the aim page 416.  Should it utilize the bracket #8? Is the line shown between that bracket and elbow #5 a metal sleeve with the nylon/plastic hose routed inside or is metal portion carry oil??  Thx for revisiting the subject.

General Discussion / BB curved neck radiator
September 13, 2018, 10:04:29 PM
Apparently me asking for information to obtain a radiator is a classified ad. So, instead I will try a new approach.
I ordered a Harrison curved neck radiator from HBC. They called the next day to tell me that they could not get a core made...any idea what that means? I know they make repo radiators, so where do those cores come from? Anyone know if Harrison is still in business and actually makes these radiators? If not, did they just recently stop production?
If anyone has faced a similar situation during a restoration, I would appreciate hearing how you resolved your radiator quest.
Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / EBAY Z11.....Z10
May 23, 2017, 10:37:04 AM
Surprised nobody has mentioned the Z11 on ebay, that is really a Z10. The owner "somehow" got the wrong trim tag?
Hopefully you have logged both Z11 and Z10 tags as well as the vin.  Is there any info on these cars?

March 10, 2014, 09:35:39 AM
I am not finding a lot of info on the correct part number for this application. Could someone help?
I have seen claims bolted as original, crimped as original, weep holes, no weep holes, some will have dates, some will not.... on and on.

Thanks for any information/clarification

General Discussion / 69 camaro repo fuel tanks
October 09, 2012, 07:51:52 PM
Gentlemen,
I have asked around a bit and gather that the "SPECTRA" tank is a good quality manufacturer of replacement tanks.
I have also heard "AMERICAN RESTORATIONS" makes a nice one as well.
Please post if you have purchased and installed the American Restorations tank and let us know what you think of the quality.

Thanks

Restoration / 69 rear side panel upholstery
August 09, 2009, 07:37:45 PM
Just now getting to the interior on my 69. I purchased the interior kit a few years ago. It appears that I have to reuse the metal piece at the top of the side panel which also holds the interior window felt. After removing the felt and the material, the bottom of the panel is simply cardboard which is attached to the metal. It appears that the cardboard was attached to the metal by piercing holes in the metal and then it was folded back over the cardboard. My question is, how should the new cardboard be attached to the metal so it will sta

Restoration / 69 windshield
October 07, 2007, 10:00:24 AM
I had ordered a new windshield for my 69. The glass guy said he thought it was the wrong one because at the upper corners, it took a sharp turn upwards. It would have fit but it would have been extremely tight in the corners. Just wanted to get input from others who have ordered from Pilkington glass. Is this the way yours was? If not is it possibly for a convertible?

Thanks

On the 9204 booster, will a date code less than 100 still have 3 numbers stamped?  Ex.  065 or will it be just 65?
Thanks

Decoding/Numbers / Audio Questions
October 16, 2006, 09:45:06 PM
1. Is there a GM part number for the rear speaker grilles for a 69 camaro?

2. A friend took apart his 04C console and found...a box of some sort. It appears to have something to do with the radio. It was in the top part of the console were the gauges would go. If this is a stock piece, you could not install gauges. Any ideas? I did not see anything in the assembly manual.
Thanks in advance
