Maintenance / Reverse lockout and reverse lights issue
September 29, 2024, 07:09:25 PM
Today I was sorting out my reverse lights on the car and ran into an issue. The car has headers and the linkage for the reverse lights has been removed. Found out my reverse lights were just missing bulbs. I put them in and the lights came on when I turned the key. Great right? Here's the issue....the lights are on when I have the arm or lever thing on the bottom of the steering column pulled up(clockwise), when I push it all the way down(counterclockwise) the lights go out, but then my key gets locked out and I can't turn it to LOCK to remove the key. If I leave the arm up(clockwise) the lights are on and I can remove the key. Anybody have a clue what could be wrong here, it seems like something is backwards here?

Restoration / 1969 Steering Wheel Hub
August 03, 2024, 07:15:48 AM
Wondering if anyone knows what I need and where to get a steering wheel hub for the standard steering wheel. I just switched from an NK1 back to a standard wheel but now I have a big gap between the wheel and column. Looking at other cars with standard wheel it seems I'm missing what looks like a hub to fill the gap. Here's a pic to show what I'm looking for on another car. Thanks in advance

Restoration / Y Duct revision
March 15, 2024, 07:00:11 PM
Question about the defroster Y duct on 69. Just pulled mine and it is part number 3949974. It is the original. My car is a 4th week March car and in the assembly manual GM introduced a new Y duct in March of 69 part number 3973729. My duct openings don't meet the dash cutout properly and am wondering if anyone has any insight into GM's March cut in 3729 duct. Was it a better fitting duct? Wondering if I should replace mine with it if that's the case. Thanks

Originality / Fuel Pump original?
January 21, 2024, 07:33:19 PM
Quick question about my fuel pump. It has the part number 40727 on it however it doesn't have the AC Delco logo, instead it looks like it says D5 on the side. Curious as to whether or not it's original or a Chinese knock off. Thanks for any help it's appreciated.

Maintenance / L78 Rough Idle and Stumbling
December 03, 2023, 11:50:09 AM
Need help with a 69 L78 having rough idle as well as stumbling when I hit the gas. RPM's fluctuate at idle 200 rpm up and down. Raise the rpm's still fluctuates but not as much.  Acting like a vacuum leak but I've checked all of that including going around with carb cleaner. New cap and rotor, plugs(when I pulled the old ones all of them were wet)fuel filter, Pcv, carbs been adjusted including accelerator pump. Carb is a Holley 4346. Timing set to 18 degrees total 36. Any thoughts as to where to look? Thanks in advance

Decoding/Numbers / 69 Camaro 396 engine suffix help
September 14, 2023, 09:42:29 AM
Looking at buying a 69 Camaro SS but the engine suffix code is throwing me off. Can anyone tell if this code is legit, the J in JH looks a bit weird to me. Date lines up with the rest of the car and seller says it's the original engine 396 375 with original heads and intake. I can't make out the partial vin on the back of the engine but it's there, some numbers I am able to make out and they match the vin. Thoughts? Thanks in advance

New to the forum and trying to find my 1969 Camaro I had as my first car(dad was a gearhead). VIN # 124379N587886. Sold the car in NY in 1997 to a guy from Jersey however evidently the car is back in NY. I'd like to reunite with the car if possible. Wishful thinking I'm sure but you never know. Car was a 4 speed manual and me and dad threw 373's in and had msd ignition mounted underneath the glovebox. Dad drilled right through his thumb on that one, quite memorable ;D if anybody knows it's whereabouts please contact me.
