Maintenance / 1969 ignition coil
April 12, 2020, 08:21:27 PM
Anyone have a source for a coil for the cowl hood application? I hope this is the #270? I have one on order from Ecklers, but maybe another week or more before it ships, since they are currently out of stock.

What is the difference in the cowl hood/non-cowl hood coils?

Thanks.

Trying to solve little problems here and there and have run into another one-

My backup lights don't work, and I figured out that this piece of linkage is missing. Car has exhaust manifolds. It looks like all of the other linkage and hardware is in place but this particular piece. I have found repos online, but they don't seem to come with hardware to attach to the reverse transmission shifter lever, or the bellcrank. Is it just a couple of retaining clips I need, or something more?

Any ideas to where I can find these pieces?

Thanks.

Restoration / Tail light sealant
February 11, 2020, 09:04:58 PM
I had a piece of the stainless trim coming loose from one of my tail lights on a 1969 Camaro. Figured I would take the lens out of the housing to clean things up a bit while I had the whole assembly off of the car, and I noticed a light tan colored sealant that is between the housing and lens.

Anyone have an idea of what this is, so I can get the proper replacement when it all goes back together? Looks and feels like plumbers putty, but surely it isn't that simple, or is it?

Thanks.

Maintenance / Spark plugs and wires
January 30, 2020, 08:53:32 PM
What are the opinions on plugs to use for a 1969 302? Also, American Autowire factory fit plug wires were recommended for me to buy, but I can't seem to find them on their website. Any other ideas on where to find these plug wires?

Thanks.

Decoding/Numbers / 1969 cowl tag
December 02, 2019, 09:10:43 PM
Howdy all,

New member here and wanted to ask a couple of questions about a car I recently purchased. I had someone more knowledgeable than me look at the car before the deal to get his thoughts on it.

It is a "69 RS Z/28", but originally was not a RS car, and most likely not a Z/28, but a very tastefully done car in my opinion. If I am reading the cowl tag correctly, it is the correct hugger orange, (white Z/28 stripes) with standard black interior (now black deluxe). I think this is an early Norwood car from the size of the tag, which I read on here. I can't seem to post an image of it.

There is a supposed re-stamped 302, Muncie 4 speed and 4.11 12 bolt in this car, but I have not had time to dig into this and crawl under it yet to try to verify anything. Is there anything in particular that could point to this being a factory Z/28? The only thing I can easily see that could help any is the small dual exhaust hanger plate behind the driver's side rear wheel, but I guess this could have been added also.

Just trying to find a way to confirm, which I may never be able to do!

I bought this as a nicely done, but non-original car, so my feelings won't be hurt either way.

Thanks,

Tony
