Thanks for the clarity on the subject Ed. It must have been a nightmare on the assembly lines with all that was going on with the myriad RPO's and the production changes on all the various vehicles being assembled. Some real challenges to meet keeping things running!

That is interesting--- Yeah I was speaking from a 68 vehicle knowledge standpoint. Where does the 1969 trunk light pick up power? Interesting this looks like some production changes were going on----
1967 and 1968 up to sometime in March 1968 used the rear license lamp connection for power. In March 1968 an apparent new rear lighting harness (AND 2 new trunk light wire assemblies were introduced) provided a connection to the interior lights circuit-but was only used for coupe models? Convertibles after March 1968 continued to use the rear license lamp connector for power? Appears this continued to be the case for 1969 model year. Am I reading that right??

When the light switch is in the parking lights position, or in the headlights on position, the trunk light will be hot and turn on when the trunk is opened.

Owners learned quickly to just pull the key back some in the switch when it went off----Then later close and lock the door after they forgot about it!! The smart kids learned quickly to disconnect the pink/black wire from the relay.
It was part of a "Theft deterrent system" campaign on the part of GM for 1968 model vehicles. Big print on the owners manual facing pages and owners envelope about it. No doubt a federally mandated program to remind neglectful owners to be more diligent about taking their keys with them!

1968 model years were the first to have key-in-ignition horn relay/buzzers. The horn relays were different-1115837 (67) vs 1115862 (68). The 68 had an additional terminal to ground when the key was left in the ignition switch and the driver door was opened.

There is a spring under each piston that lightly preloads the brake pads.

Think that is the 1969 harness grounding strategy you have there-using the screw between the ammeter and temperature gauge. The 1968 harness ground went to the lower stud of the fuel level gauge. (Or lower stud of the temp gauge)

The 13 is a mold number. The 2 split circles seemed hit and miss and were used up through 68 model years. Likely the second large number is a month with the dots indicating the week. I have seen one case like this in Paul Cangialosi's book page 21. The second large number castings seemed to only last a short while. The casting dates later changed to a grid style around 1971 or so.

The cheaper ones are not flock lined as original. Some are unassembled (unstapled)

Check for a loose, disconnected ground on the fuel tank sender. Also check for a disconnected brown sender wire at the fuel sender or at the gauge. Both conditions will send the fuel needle past full. Be certain you have a good ground at the gauge panel.

Agree with the sentiment to not try to reproduce the document. It will only cause headaches and problems with trying to justify what is on the vehicle. LOTS of these cars were separated from the original documentation. Let it be that yours too doesn't have it any longer. Save your money for something else and help keep things sane. Doesn't detract from the vehicle.

It does have US Patent 3088336 cast on it - and I'm not sure where I got the May idea from - as I see your date code logic - just not sure what the '0' or 'O' means but I guess it is pretty old for sure..
No internals just empty case and tailshaft..
We're the 7/8" shaft versions all that poor - I can see why they might get upgraded, but I'm sure they were put in many very heavy vehicles around that timeframe..?
I t also has a couple of square bosses molded into the case next to the upper part of the rear flange so that may be what you refer to as the 'square bosses'..  THANKS!   
Answers: The date codes were done as Factory "P", Month "01", and day "8"  for 63-66 transmissions. The coding was changed in 1967 model years to have a year designator added between the factory and month positions. Yours should be a 1965 model year  built on January 8, 1965. Yours is a M20 or M21 (M22 transmissions were first built in March/April 1965 using 3851325 cases that had the casting numbers milled off. The countershaft holes were increased to the larger 1" size.) The upper boss on the back of your case should be squared off, not rounded as earlier cases were made. Countershafts were increased to 1" in 1966 model year.

January 8 is the build date. Would be Jan 8, 1964 if the case has "PAT.PEND." cast on it.  " US PATENT NO 3088336" would be a January 8, 1965 build. The 1965 case would also have a squared off upper extension housing boss. Not too many people are excited over 7/8" countershaft cases. Probably good for someone needing the specific model year Muncie. 
ADD: Grooves on the input shaft should help with M20 or M21
