As much expertise that we have in this group I thought it would be a no brainer and I as well did search the threads before asking the question. Thanks for trying.
Is there a list or a set of rules or guide lines to go by when restoring ? I would like to do as many things correctly the first time around .

Originality / Throttle return spring Color
April 09, 2014, 11:43:55 AM
Hello Everyone'

I have been searching for the correct color for the return spring on a 69 350 SS with a Rochester Carb. HBC sells the spring bare metal and says it was brown from the factory . Can any one give me some insight as to what shade and gloss ?

Thanks in advance, Rich

Hopefully I attached a pic of the speakers that I took out of the shell
The car dose have a center consul with a front antenna but the mast did not come with it, short cable . There are some additional wires in the council that I didn't understand. I will have to look closer at them when I get home.
Thanks for all your help :)

Great looking wheel Rich !  Is the silver powder coated as well ?  If it is powder coated  was there any problem with the second bake on the  back side ?

The "blue light" and "yellow light" am/fms were stereo. Very few [1%] '69s were built a stereo. The monaural unit is more common [3.4%].

If your car has front kick panel and 2 rear speakers then it was built with a stereo. From about June or July '69 the yellow light with integral multiplex was used. The same speakers were used with the tape player, which could not be ordered with a stereo radio.

If it does not have the speakers but has a capacitor in the power line to the heater blower motor it had a monaural am/fm. A '69 A or B body used the same unit. '70-up units look the same but have a different plug.

If the car does not have the speakers or the capacitor it probably had an AM.

Hello all, old post same topic.

I am restoring  a 69 SS with a build date of 11 D of 68  . I am the third owner since it was taken apart in 1979 . It came to me with  2 rear speakers , 2 kick panel speakers and a dash speaker.

1  Would the correct radio be an  AM / FM blue light stereo ?

2  Can any one recommend  a speaker restoration company ?

Thanks in advance for any confirmation or recommendations. , Rich

Restoration / Re: restoring 69 hood hinges
March 25, 2014, 07:23:10 AM
I used a nesco type roaster for my hood hinges with thee gallons of water and 12 oz. of the dark gray phosphate . It worked great on both set of hinges. Make sure you degrease the pivot point really well before you blast them, then right into the solution.  Let it cook about 8 minuets after it stops bubbling then right to WD 40 rinse and dry three times. The next day I treated them with Barricade
Use a thermometer, It takes awhile for the cooker to reach 190 degrees.

Thanks Charley, I was thinking the same thing . I appreciate all of the help with the work arounds from everyone and Toms comment. That explains why there are so many empty picture references, I did find on Photobucket were you select thumbnail IMGs and I tried to use that for my profile but it still didn't take. I can down load it to the test page and here  :o

  Thanks, Rich
