Ok, i have my eye on a set, correct dates, they are a little pricey and i did not want to waste $ on something that would be incorrect for a future full blown restoration. I knew i could count on you guys! Ive talked to a few people and they said only the 041's would be correct for my car. Thanks all!

Decoding/Numbers / Cylinder head question
January 19, 2013, 11:23:33 AM

Hi all!!! this is my dilema, Ive been searching for a set of 041 heads and have either come up with nothing or one's with the wrong dates( I have a original 350 SS, oct 68 build, and want to keep it that way). i cant get a clear answer on this, did ANY SS 350's come with 186 heads? Ive had some people say they will work, i do know that but i want to keep it the way it was born(im crazy like that). thanks all for you input!!!!!

General Discussion / Correct date heads
January 15, 2013, 11:06:17 AM
Many weeks ago i started the winter breakdown of my 350 SS to add some "correct parts". Thought the heads could use a freshening up, off to the machine they went(3947041)Well i got the call, one head has a nasty crack. I started a search and could not come up with a single or a matching set.my question to all is, my cast date for my engine is oct 21 68, my engine build date is oct 24 68, original heads dated oct 3 and 9 68. Would a set of heads dated in late septemeber be possibly "correct" for my car?

Does anyone know where i might be able to find one or a matching set of 3947041 heads with a cast date of oct 1 to oct 22? I check  Ebay and CL everyday and theres never anything good or what im looking for.  Any info of a possible vendor/shop online or privatly  greatly appreciated ! MIke
