The photo below, from the Tra-Co Engines website, shows the gray color.
I have never painted an engine that color and don't have a suggestion for
an off-the-shelf paint can to use but it shouldn't be hard to find something
suitable.

it almost resembles a white greyish...lookin at different colors...

I have seen the Penske Camaros use the Z28 finned aluminum valve covers and also the stock stamped steel valve covers painted Traco gray to match the rest of the engine. I think the stamped steel valve covers were used early in the season and the finned ones later on.

Jim Hall's Camaros used the Z28 finned aluminum valve covers. I've never seen photos of his engines running another type of valve cover although I guess its possible.

cool deal!......what color is TRACO grey?....is there any high temp paint out there that resembles it?

what kinda valve covers did traco run on the penske/chaparral camaros?

alright guys....i really like the flat grey color by VHT....alittle different but vintage is probably what i going paint my headers......

i understand...i'm still looking at all options.....just love them old vintage trans am cars .....i know VHT carries high temp paint for headers....also looking at Rustoleum Stove paint which resists up to 1500 degrees and got different colors tooo......i know alot guys do jet hot coatings and soo forth but i just like the old school painted look.....or maybe i'm just crazy

oh ok.....for some reason i thought they were more like a flat white color on some?.....

Hey guys...I'm Matt..25 years old a huge camaro fan...i love the years 67-73 just really a work of art.....I know this is a first gen website..but thought i share my ride.. i have a 1971 Camaro RS with some major handling upgrades from DSE and PTFB........it runs alot of the goodguys autocross and pro-touring events....I love vintage trans am racing 1966-1972...especially penske/donohue camaro team.....heres a pic of my car:
